The Last Western You Watched?

To make a full-out shootout style ending it would probably need another 20 minutes of celluloid and more money. Don’t know if they had either of them although this was not the low-budget kind of film. But, yes, it could have been better.
I’m also not aware of Maclean’s original story, I read that the movie is a bit different, for better or for worse I can’t tell.
I guess the problem with most of us is that this is a Bronson western and you expect more bullets and killings than mystery and suspense. But it’s a good flick in any case.

Taste of Death
definetely a good one for me - unusual settings - we have here a godforsaken village in a style of Great Silence
but if GS is actually normal mountain western with stagecoach and sheriff and other western resemblances,
in ToD it is a real village and it almost could take place in some european country
i liked a theme song and some of the music, but was little surprised by that funny music stuff at the beginning
also the final village showdown is very good and i prayed for a good “eat the snow” death scene for that blondie bastard -
surprisingly, he wasn´t a badguy with a maniac laughter- no, this time, it is a villain with very contemplative attitude

i don´t think it was a money problem - with good creative ideas it can be done very sucessfully as we know from some spaghies  (and i don´t really need a long shootout) - nevertheless, this movie certainly contains one of the best headshots ever ;D

True.

“How do I know you won’t pull no fancy tricks?”
“I swear I never would”
“I don’t believe you, soldier”

Botte di natale aka Troublemakers - again
why again? this must be the most broadcasting SW on Slovak televisions
and Slovak title mutation is something like Dumb and Dumber - please hang creator of that title really high
despite it´s on tv so often i´ve never seen the whole movie - it´s just hard to watch sometimes
well, some jokes are funny - but whose idea was that dummy dog biting Hill´s leg - jeez
and Spencer? well, he is like grandpa punching badguys - more threatening is only Steven Seagal in True Justice
yeah, and did i mention (probably i did) that some genius put these guys on Czech edition Boot Hill dvd cover
hang him too

Killer Adios.

Viewed this one again via the Wild East disc. Thoughts are pretty much the same as I written in the film’s thread a few years back. The scenes with the young woman and Peter Lee Lawrence are funny. Worth the wait this PLL double bill from Wild East, as enjoyed visiting these ones again.

Where the Bullets Fly - OK Film with a very good cast and a Story with potantial. But the funny moments are bad.
6 / 10

The Tiger from River Kwai - What a bad one ! Lattenzi is very a bad director. But the music was pretty Ok. I’ve seen a german version wich was 15 minutes cut.
3 / 10 - on a good day !

Cat Ballou
-good fun, Lee Marvin’s great drunkard gunfighter alone makes it worth watching.

Yeah… It’s okay. It kind-of becomes The Not So Big Country at the end. I probably need to read the book, but the narrow-canyon finale doesn’t seem to fit with the wide-open grasslands setting, in the film’s first half. And all the good performances seem to morph-into overly dramatic ones.

Watched Eugenio Martin effort El precio de un hombre with Millian

Already placed my thought about it in the films thread

Just finished watching Massacre Time. Excellent film and what a surprisingly great performance by George Hilton (whom failed to interest me until now)!

yeah, Hilton is great in this one - favorite scene with him - he claps in front of one drunkard in a tavern, sees no response, so he just goes away ;D

Macho Callahan.

David Janssen escapes from an army prison and goes after the guy who put him there. Gets involved with a woman along the way in somewhat strange circumstances. Understood the story better this time as always viewed poor copies in the past. Janssen has that brooding look. Enjoyed this one alot better this time round with some gritty moments.

I’m glad you enjoyed it more this time around, ENNIOO. Remember last time it was discussed here you said you didn’t like it that much. I personally love it. Here’s one for you:

Nice. Yes thats right did not like as much back then. Interesting when an opinion of a movie changes for me, sometimes it can go the other way of course. Often look forward to re viewing a film I get in a better version, which first time around I did not like as much. Especially liked the scenes at the start of the film in the prison.

Here’s what I had written for it, looks like we are in agreement regarding the opening sequence

Bandidos. Excellent film, although the leads are a bit weak. The tracking shot of the train covered in corpses at the start is one of my favourite sequences in Italian cinema, without a doubt.

Just watched Trinity is Still My Name for the first time in English. I was surprised but I think the German dub is waaay funnier! I picked up the DVD in Prague for peanuts… The cover looks like crap, i thought it might have been a bootleg, but the picture quality is excellent. Better than the German DVD I have.

Watched a pretty good (if also pretty bizarre) Mexican western, GUNS & GUTS (Las Viboras cambian de Piel)

Here are my thoughts on it:

never heard of this flick, but, maaan, i must see that, if there such a great things as a stronghold battle in a pecki style - that´s something for my tastes,
and if it somehow bizarre - even better
