The Last Western You Watched?
I once had a similar discussion over a certain ‘speeded up’ chase scene & to quote a certain user:

“It’s getting hot in here” :)
It didn’t got hot either, at least not from my side. And then we were talking then about facts, not opinions.

Re viewed The Mercenary.

Not my favourite western by the director, but worth a view from time to time.

-wow, what a piece of crap, Definitely one of the worst sw’s I’ve seen. Strangely my dvd-r was a tv-rip from some tv-show where two guys interrupt the film for every 5 minutes to comment how bad it is. Villain of the film is memorable though, he looks like Frank Zappa, laughs constantly like the Devil from The Mascothttp://www.spaghetti-western.net/index.php/Più_forte_sorelle and enjoys watching people get slinged to the air with catapult.

El Cisco

A stinker which has been filed away and will not see the light of day again for some time. It always hurts to see an actor you like (William Berger) in such a turkey. Not even George Wang’s ‘fresh out of Mexican Bandit school’ performance could save it. Ah well.

A little help with that ever growing to watch list is always appreciated

Well I have the same version and had to stop watching as those TV guys bugged me. Since got hold of a version from a Portuguese VHS with english audio, but by the sounds of it I should not have bothered.

Sure they were annoying as hell but at least they stopped the film for moment every once in a while which was a relief.

For some reason I´m interested in this film, even though my expectations correspond with the views of the ones who saw it. Does anyone know the pictue quality of the French dvd?

Yeah, I have very questionnable taste. Perhaps I watch too many Philipino actioners and ninja flicks, haha.

Lemonade Joe

I’ve had this one on the to watch pile for a while now and only just got to it today. What a great little film! Really well constructed and had me laughing all the way through. A comedy western successfully pulled off. Now that’s a rarity in itself. And they got the silent era feel down perfectly. If I’d known this was such a little gem I would have watched it ages ago.

“Return Of The Bad Men” (1948)
-Randolph Scott

A former Texas Ranger comes out of retirement to battle The Dalton Gang. The Younger Gang, Billy The Kid AND The Sundance Kid.

Phantom’s Review: Standard, but fun Randolph Scott movie. Plenty of action, villains and a couple of pretty girls. Not a bit of historical accuracy, but who cares… it’s Randolph Scott doing what he did best.

Thompson 1880

Just got this one today.

-Worth watching just to see Anthony Steffen’s fake hand trick. Hilarious.

Viewed Wild Rovers (1971).

A couple of cowboys played by William Holden and Ryan O’ Neil decide to rob a bank as fed up with their lifes.

Not sure at first whether the film wanted to play things serious or just pretend to be serious. In the last quarter of the film things do become serious for sure with the introduction of slow motion violence. Some stunning scenery in the film.

Yes, great scenery, great acting too (By Holden of course, but it’s also O’Neal’s best performance by a mile), but a film that seems to be looking for a coherent story all the time. It first goes this way, than that way, and never finds the right direction.

Haven’t seen it in a while now (so a good tip), and when I think about it, I see before me this scene with Holden and the wild mustang
His double for that scene must have been a very good horseman

Yes you are correct re the horseman for Holden.

Was having a conversation the other day about what film an actor starts to substantially look older. Not sure which one it may be for Holden, but always think he looks pretty good for an older guy in The Wild Bunch. But seems to have aged quick in films like Breezy and Open Season.

I’ve been too lazy to tell you all that I rewatched A Bullet For Sandoval last saturday, but however the last Western I watched Poker With Pistols (again).

I just watched the following westerns in german.

I want him dead. 6/10
Black Jack. 7/10
The specialist. 8/10

All of them where good, I just wish they had english options.
