That is possibly the most succinct and accurate review ever of this film. Well done fella.

The Gatling Gun / Machine gun killers / Quel caldo maledetto giorno di fuoco

Unusual, interesting, bizarre spy/detective western, with Robert Woods cutting out bullets and John Ireland throwing knives with his feet

I’ll be back with more …

He he, the Rev had already written a much more detailed review of this one in the film’s thread:

Great title - ho hum film tho’. Bang crash, bang wallop, biff bosh bash - wallop wallop, kap-ow ping, boof aghhh BANG! sort of stuff …

Payment in Blood…pretty average SW but a good score and some decent stunts (of course, given the director and the star) so it was enough to hold my interest for 1.5 hours.

Good interview with Edd Byrnes on the WE disc too.

I got a serious problem with Edd Byrnes. I think he came to Italy to become the next Eastwood… Ok, he got a more accurate hairstyle that Clint, but that’s all.

Sei jellato amico, hai incontrato Sacramento aka You’re Jinxed, Friend, You’ve Met Sacremento was watched last night.

I may be softening up for I kinda actually liked this one. A lot of fighting and shooting and a not very interesting plot but what do you know it gets the work done. Ty Hardin was ok as the good guy and Giacomo Rossi-Stuart performed well as the main baddie. Also participation by board-favourtie Ken Wood aka Giovanni Cianfriglia as one of Rossi-Stuart’s main (got a lot of screentime) henchmen. The movie also sports a genuine boxing match so what more could you wish for?

What wins this movie over for me though is the fantastic score by Franco Micalizzi. He didn’t do many spaghetti western soundtracks but what he did he did well, later going on to compose some of the very best Italian crime scores.

Watched version: German DVD, 86 mins., 1.85:1 (OAR: 2.35:1) non-anamorphic. An alright picture quality for a cheap release.

Accurate hairstyle? For a western movie?

Nice one this like you say…some very good tracks.

The Greatest Robbery in the West aka L’ Più grande rapina del west (1967)

IMO a mediocre contribution. After a good beginning this movie started to get a bit boring. That’s a pity cause the cast with George Hilton, Walter Barnes, Jeff Cameron, Hunt Powers, Sarah Ross, Mario Brega, … Some good ideas but all the characters are a bit underused. Walter Barnes as Villain didn’t convinced me. They should have choose Mario Brega instead of him. The ending credit song was one of these “Everybody is happy and dancing on the street” songs and for me very annoying. The plot and the movie seems to be influenced by movies like “Pistol for Ringo”. I missed somehow the good SW feeling in that. Not the best but not the worst either.

What release did you view Paco ?

The release from X-Rated which was included in the Italo-Western Collection. It’s cut but all the cutted scenes are as Bonus on the DVD. There is another release from X-Rated uncut but it’s released as Bonus on their “Dicke Luft in Sacramento” aka The Crazy Bunch DVD.

last night watched the Rod Cameron Le Pistole non discutono aka Bullets Don’t Argue. I really enjoyed this early spaghetti western. Yes it feels more like an American western with Cameron as the Sheriff/Hero unlike the typical anti-heroes of later movies. But it worked for me. Also the RHV release is amazing. The picture quality is picture perfect and the English language track is excellent.

I’ve just rewatched Light the Fuse … Sartana is Coming. It’s been quite a while since I last saw it, and it’s on record that I’ve been no big fan of the official Sartanas - but a better quality print this time, and a more open mind maybe … and I enjoyed it a bit more this time around.
Next up in the series will be Have a Good Funeral … Sartana will Pay - I’m looking forward to this a bit more.
Who knows - maybe I’ll end up a fan?
Pretty good fun overall.

Il pistolero segnato a Dio / Two Guns and a coward

1968 by Giorgio Ferroni starring Antonio De Teffè, Richard Wyler, Luisa Baratto, Giovanni Cianfriglia, Andrea Bosic, Nello Pazzafini, Marco Stefanelli and Benito Stefanelli.

The movie starts kind of boring but then gets better with every minute while telling a good story (Ferroni could’ve done even better though).
I felt entertained but would rate it just slightly above average 6/10…

BTW: My copy has a nice Grindhouse feel to it  !

After watching many good and entertaining SW I got what I deserved:
You’re Jinxed, Friend, You’ve Met Sacremento
Ty Hardin as a preachy boxing father who is all the time in some troubles with a gang of outlaws. Next to these events he wants to get sure that his son isn’t gay. A bad directed movie with an awful 70’s soft music score. Some scenes were unintentional funny that’s why 2/5

“Appaloosa”(2008)
-Ed Harris, Viggo Mortensen

Plot Synopsis: IMDB

New Mexico.Territory.1882. Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch are itinerant lawmen, hired by desperate towns as marshal and deputy. The city fathers of Appaloosa hire them after Randall Bragg, a newly-arrived rancher with money and a gang of thugs, disrupts commerce and kills three local lawmen. Cole and Hitch contrive to arrest Bragg and bring him to trial, but hanging him proves difficult. Meanwhile, a widow has arrived in town, Allison French, pretty, refined, and good-natured. Virgil falls hard, and it seems mutual, but there may be more to Allie than meets the eye.

Phantom’s Review: I loved this movie ! Great acting from all the stars, beautifully filmed and a nice balance of action and humor. A wonderful western.

Pray to God and Dig Your Grave
A very good and enjoyable movie.
