Shoot, Gringo, Shoot last night and 32 Calibre Killer this morning.
Both entertaining, neither a real classic.
Bastard Go and Kill
I’ve seen all but one of George Eastman’s movies and I just don’t like them very much (except The Belle Starr Story). I don’t like it when he plays a Mexican. For some reason he rubs me the wrong way. I hated him as a Mexican in Django The Last Killer. It seems like he went to the Tomas Milian school of peone-thespianism (a caricature that works, to me, only for Milian). This movie has a larger than usual role for Remo Capitani, who I enjoyed in L’America a Roma. He gives a nice performance as the usual corrupt army/police sergeant. He looks like he was slathered in chicken grease and sweat then rolled in dirt. The Mexican “town” set was quite strange, not really like a town but more like a collection of stone ruins.
I did not care much for the desperate husband-hunting character chasing Eastman. It reminded me of Milian & Chelo Alonso in Run Man Run. And nobody tops Cheloooooooo !
Ok, ok, I posted three pics of Bud, so why not three of Chelooooo toooooo
Don’t know if she ever won any medals …

Thanks Scherps!!
A Genius, Two Partners, and a Dupe
Pirates of the Mississippi been viewed.
Average Spaghetti cowboys and indians lark, and surprised how young Horst Frank looked in this one.
Les Pétroleuses was just watched. Nothing special.

This is a really early one! (1963)? How was the quality of the DVD amigo?
Did it seem more “American” or spghetti-like?

American feel most of the time, with moments of the spaghetti style especially when Horst Frank is on the screen.
DVD R was sourced from a VHS tape in 2.35 widescreen in english language (with no subtitles), and is decent quality for a VHS rip.

The moment to kill
This is pretty good. Cinematography as well as the plot are simple, yet effective. Hilton is good, Frank… well, I always like him.The buddy aspect isn’t brouht too cheesily and the action is done fine as well. Outshines the average sw easily. Should be talked about more, as far as I’m concerned; fortunately a lot of people seem to have ordered it. The version I watched is a Dutch ex rental vhs (Vieo 49) which came in widescreen. Those Video 49 tapes are of great quality considering the age. 7/10 for the overall experience (excluding the beer).
Kitosch the Man Who Came from the North was viewed.
I was a bit bored in this one as a bit flat and uninspired.
Any Gun Can Play was viewed with the family (although the youngest actually fell asleep after the opening credits).
Plenty of action and nothing nasty to upset the kids (or the wife for that matter) so a reasonably successful choice.
I Am Sartana Your Angel of Death.
I told the wife the title of the movie I was watching tonight and she just laughed derisively. Hmph…
Actually the stranger the title the more I want to watch it!
AMERICAN OUTLAWS (2001)
Not a great western, but not as hopeless as it’s reputed to be
I think they wanted to make a second Tombstone, but with a slight comical edge and almost parodic action (they can’t even kill Farrel with a canon!) instead of the more realistic approach in the other movie
It’s no Tombstone and only occasionally funny, but if you’re in the mood for a lighthearted wild west adventure starring some very talented young actors, you could do a lot worse (the film is a lot better than Young Guns, for instance)
Ali Larter is eye candy, but sure not a great actress, but Timothy Dalton makes up for that with a lovely, tongue-in-cheek performance as Alan Pinkerton
3/5

Yeah, i like the obscure titles too.
Titles like, And The Crows Will Dig Your Grave ,The Night Of The Serpent & And For A Roof A Sky Full Of Stars.
I’d like to see 15 Scaffolds For A Murderer which sounds intriguing.
Get Mean (1976)
I only watched half of it and gave up.
I fail to understand why this is classed as a SW, it clearly is not and in addition to that it’s not even funny.
A criminal waste of good celluolite.
Avoid.
Two Sons of Ringo was viewed.
Probably one of the most stupid Spaghetti westerns I have ever seen.
Fistful Of Dollars
Classic
Killer Adios was this morning’s choice.
Great cast and nice mystery element. One of PLL’s best for me although possibly a bit too ‘traditional’ for some people’s taste.
