You sure they aren’t bootleg copies? One way to check is the color of the dataside… if it’s blue or purple or something like that, maybe any other except silver or gold, then it’s a DVDr copy for sure. They could be pressed copies as well which makes it impossible to really know unless you can compare the prints on the disc and cover etc. to one which is definitely original. Certain Criterion’s have been copied and sold as originals and they look exactly like the originals except for one small detail on the surface of the disc I think… can’t remember what it was exactly, but you would have to know about it to spot the bootlegs… I just doubt they would sell bootlegs of jap discs like this.
Blindman I’m sure you might even be able to get for under $10 from Ebay as original because all the bootlegs will bring the prices down. I have seen Sabata and Return of Sabata go for that price some time ago, maybe even Blindman but I can’t remember for sure.
Navajo Joe on the other hand has been completely out of print for some time so I’d think it would cost more… considering it was $50 as new and is the only disc available of the movie. Still, anything is possible.
About Tepepa. As far as I know it hasn’t even been released in Japan, only available disc should be from Italy by Alan Young Pictures?
EDIT: oh and to stay on topic as well… the last one I watched was Grand Duel… frame by frame. ;D
yea you gotta be careful of ebay,i bought a version of “LONG RIDE FROM HELL” and it cuts off right before the final showdown! luckily i didnt like it anyway.
Well I have been suspicious myself , but I have to say that if they are copies they are very well made.
The color of the dataside is gold, but I can’t really decide wheter the label on the disc looks ‘home made’ or not.
I checked my disc of Navajo Joe (I bought it from a store so it should be original but who knows ;D ) and the dataside is silver… which doesn’t necessarily mean a thing as they might have pressed some of the discs with gold (and depending on if the disc is from the Legend of the gunmen box or a separate one, the disc art and possible color of the dataside could be different [the contents of the discs are the same]). I’m not even sure if gold is used in any original discs, but I remember seeing couple of those.
If you can use a computer you could always check the region coding as the Japanese discs should be region 2 and bootlegs are usually made 0. But of course IF they have made the effort to make it as good as possible (even making pressed discs) they probably have used the same region code as well. ;D The Navajo Joe case should also have a “photo” (with some text on the other side) insert, but people might just keep those themselves when selling discs used.
Anyways, as I said $10 for Blindman atleast could be quite normal because of all the bootlegs out there bringing the prices down. Why would anyone pay $20 or more for an original when you can get an exact copy of the disc for $10. Whenever there happen to be few original jap discs in ebay, they seem to go for very low prices unless they happen to be one of those boxsets which have special cases and some other extra material (calendars, posters etc.) in them.
Low price for Navajo Joe would seem wierd, but of course possible, because it’s OOP now… if I wouldn’t already have it, I would be ready to go atleast up to $50 immediately after seeing an original copy of it in Ebay. ;D (have been trying to get the Mercenary for almost a year already though without any luck… every time there happens to be something which might possibly be original, the seller has informed me it’s not )
Well all three discs are region 0, but they all have japanese menus.
So I think you are right the seller has been ‘very creative’.
By the way, Amazon.uk had the Mercenary a few months ago. Actually they still have it, it’s the american version running 92 min.
Watched “Strangers Gold”.
I think i remember this film from long ago ,is this the one where he uses poker cards as weapons? how do you rate this movie judas? i may want to check this one out .
The movie is also known as Have a nice Funeral my friend Sartana will pay… Starring John Garko
oh i didnt realize that.
Today ‘Passa Sartana … e’ l’ombra della tua morte’ (Sartana - Im Schatten des Todes) will be on German television (Tele 5) ! Don’t know it yet but I don’t expect too much out of it 'cause it’s one of Fidani’s trash-westerns featuring Jeff Cameron (as usual) !!!
Well, I was right !!! That flic is pretty bad, actually THE worst by Fidani ! I think that speaks for itself !!!
It’s also one of the worst SW ever !!! Bad filming material, even worse actors (SW clowns Jeff Cameron and Dino Strano, by the way Fidani appears for a few seconds himself, the only moments the movie is interesting), no story
!!!
The Lone Ranger (1956)
The Lone Ranger And The Lost City Of Gold (1958)
Two film based on the classic television series starring the legendary team of Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels. These films are fun, Saturday matinee adventures. Action packed, simple stories and you know who the good guys and the bad guys are (to bad real life isnt like that) If your a fan of the show, check these films out.
SLEDGE, so what your impression on it? Personnaly i was desapoited when i saw it i think its the waste of a good cast, and Gardner (usualy i like) try to be "bad" hero but he dont convince me.
Also the movie got one of the worst song title i ever ear.
Supposedly there are some parts of Sledge cut in the R1 release, Laura Antonelli & what happens to her at the end one obvious one, supposedly the international cut shows more.
Anybody here know?
I FOUND THESE WESTERNS WHILE BROWSING AMAZON,I:M CURIOUS IF ANYONE HAS SEEN THEM,I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THEM BUT THEY SOUND PRETTY COOL NED BLESSING-RETURN TO PLUM CREEK:NED BLESSING-RETURN OF THE HOODED MAN-NED BLESSING-DEADMAN,S REVENGE.
Just watched ‘Sunny and Jed’, it’s reasonable but there is not much spaghetti western over it.
Have just ordered ‘God said to Cain’ I hope that one is better.
If you like Kinski, you’ll love ‘And God said to Cain’ !!! Apart from that it’s a solid piece of work with great atmosphere. Gothic horror meets SW !!! A real winner !!! Have fun watching it !!!
