The Last Western You Watched? ver.2.0

Bronson was far superior. I completely disagree with your assessment. Just watch the prison scene in ‘The Dirty Dozen’ - what an actor! Or his performance in Rider on the Rain, one of my favourites. He had both the skills and presence.

I can see him as Angel eyes.

I think Volonte could have done that either, but Wallach is hard to beat in that role.
And if Volonte and Leone have had a better relationship, then I’m sure, Volonte would have played the Tuco.

I wish Eastwood and Bronson made a film together as I’m sure it would have solved the dilemma for me.

How about Robert Hundar for Angel Eyes?

Sorry, but I don’t like him in The Dirty Dozen. He was ok in the Clement film.
I like him for certain reasons in OuTW and apart from that maybe only really in Chato’s Land. At least for me overall there are much more films in which Bronson was not good then the other way round.
Funnily, still my feelings towards him are positive …

I can’t believe people think it’s a contest but maybe that’s just me. I think Bronson had a much wider range. He could play tough, just like Eastwood, since he was tough in reality but he was also able to be charming. Has anyone watched From Noon Til Three? Can’t see Eastwood pulling off a performance like that!

Lee I think developed a persona and stuck to it.

Charlie was a very subtle actor and this can be missed. I think his performance in the original Death Wish was brilliant.

I agree with Stanton, in his assessment that Eastwood is the better actor of the two. I never mind Bronson, and he did some good stuff, but overall Eastwood was better, in terms of acting ability, but also stage presence.

The Eastwood of GBU is certainly not the Eastwood of In The Line of Fire.

Apples and oranges

I think I get your meaning.

I have a copy of Noon Til Three I have to watch it now!!

I feel Bronson’s European films are better than his American ones particularly the later ones. I think he got to play more demanding parts. Violent City by Sergio Sollima is a good example. He starts of real tough but is a rather pathetic figure at the end.

My favourite Bronson film is le passager de la pluie

Yeah, he’s incredible in that

That’s Rider on the Rain isn’t it? Bronson is at his most menacing in that one.

Also his small part in Sean Penn debut directon Indian Runner, was quite good, convencing and different from the usal parts he used to do

Oh I have always wanted to see that one. I believe that is one of his last cinema released films.
I liked Farewell Friend with Alan Delon too.
