The Last Movie You Watched?

I like her a lot in the film; the film needs her to offset the brazenly sexy Sharon Stone.

A movie starring Giuliano Gemma, Klaus Kinski and a lot of familiar supporting actors (among them Dan van Husen and Lorenzo Robledo), directed by Duccio Tessari, could that be a western …

Could be, but it isn’t. It’s set in the 1960s and cars are replacing horses, and jewelry shops the local bank.

I had been looking for this movie for quite a while, and could only find a rotten VHS copy, so I waited for a better version. Can’t say it really was worth the wait (it’s not a great movie), but i enjoyed myself nevertheless

This is what I posted about it awhile back, when I watched it.

The Bastard/I Bastardi(1968)

With Giulianno Gemma, Klaus Kinsky, Margaret Lee and Rita Hayworth.

Good cast, but the film was a disappointment for me, and you could tell from it’s production values that it’s a cheap low budget movie.
It started good, then it dives into boredom territory, especially in the middle when I dozed off a few times had to rewind to catch up again.
Gemma and Kinsky playing brothers who are jewel thieves, with Gemma being betrayed by Kinsky and he wants revenge of course.

Kinsky is good as always, Gemma a mama’s boy is ok, Lee is gorgeous :stuck_out_tongue: and Hayworth is a bit over the top, but hilarious in her role. It could have been better, but it lacked the excitement and action that I expected. 5/10

There’s a Warner Archive DVD that is a nice transfer.

Enjoyed the film alot more when I viewed the Warner Archive DVD.

I’d never seen it till I picked up that Warner disc.

Fairy In A Cage - Watched it this afternoon. A lot better than I was expecting and the transfer looks stunning.

I know what they are but why are they known as ā€œRoman Pornā€?

Looper - first 40 minutes were great, i thought this is going to be one of the most cool /if not best/ TT movies i’ve seen, but then … well, how would i put it …
it got worse and worse until THAT scene with Bruce Willis came and i laughed - really? Willis wiped out whole army of mobsters just like that? i was watching that and thought director must gone mad or something - unbelievable

I knew I was going to watch a bad movie, but I still wanted to see it. At first I thought it wasn’t that bad after all, there are a few good actors in it and the opening scene is deliciously sleazy and funny, but it quickly spirals down into a pointless thriller without much flesh and no bone at all.

Sharon is again the sexy novelist Catherine Tramell who has a habit of researching her novels legs apart. This time she lives in London and she’s in murky water (literally) when a footballer dies in her car (while making her come). A psychiatrist is appointed to study her mental health, but of course the sucker immediately falls for her.

The film was in ā€œdevelopment hellā€ (as it has been baptized) for about half a decade because several directors and actors (among them Verhoeven and Douglas) turned it down. Sharon threatened to sue the producers for breaching contract, but when the film was finally made (14 years after the original!), she was 48 years old and felt very unsure about the role.

There are several versions available and I don’t know which one I got. It was said to be ā€˜unrated’, but you never know these days with all these director’s cuts and special versions. Sharon still has the legs, but those breast implants don’t help. We get one graphic, almost pornographic sex scene with David Morrissey and Flora Montgomery, plus a scene with Sharon being involved in a sex orgy, but that’s all as far as the sultry business is concerned.

Avoid it.

Yes very much a crap fest that one. If the film would have managed to get made in the 90’s maybe a better film may have emerged. Stone looked better of course in the 90’s. For me it was made to long after the original film.

I never bothered with it, don’t think I will.

my Holy mission of watching every time travel movie ever produced continues …

Somewhere in time - Christopher Reeve timetravels back to the 1912 (or something like that) to reunite with his soulmate, who is no one else than Jane Seymour
it is TT romantic story, but since i’ve seen Time Traveler’s Wife or Lake House, i know, it may not be definitely a bad thing
and in this case, it wasn’t, i was pleasantly surprised - i liked the historic era, costumes, and pinch of mystery the film has

The Maltese Falcon - Enjoyed this, looking forward to checking out some more Bogart films.

Aces Go Places IV - Enjoyable enough but not as good as it predecessors. A hell of a lot more violent than the others though, that’s Ringo Lam for you.

How many time travel films have you seen and how many have you left to go? Your missions is certainly intriguing!

actually, i am on three Holy missions so far and those are of - watching time travel movies, postapocalyptic movies and spaghetti westerns (that had to be a surprise to you all)
i’ve been kinda sloppy on TT movies, so my holy counter shows only 41 TT movies watched - hmm, i have to catch up

and how many have i left to go? i don’t know precisely, but some of lists of TT movies are pretty huge, but that can be said about PA movies too, not to mention SWs, but number of SWs at least stopped to increase

The Big Sleep was very good as well, although I think The Maltese Falcon is still better.

Uau couldn’t they find a worst cover… Bogart looks like one of the Baldwin brothers

ā€œThe Amazing Spider-Manā€ (2012)

Plot: IMDB
Peter Parker/Spider-Man finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Curt Connors, his father’s former partner.

Phantom’s Review: I personally found ā€œAmazingā€ to be …adequate. Not a bad film by any means. Good FX (if you don’t mind a ton of CGI) good cast , story but the film seemed to lack the fun and excitement of the first two Sam Rami pictures. I really didn’t see the point of retelling the origin over again. It made the first half hour of the film drag. But my biggest complaint with this film (as well as many other super hero movies) WHY THE HELL DO THEY KEEP TAKING OFF THE MASK!
Most of the film , he was walking around in his Spidey suit with no mask on. Do the producers feel the audience is so stupid that we would forget what the actor looked liked? It was an Okay film, I just hope the sequel is better.

Not that great is it, was the main artwork for it from back in the day though, as I got the Steelbook of Treasure Of Sierra Madre I thought I’d get this too. I’ll probably get Casablanca as well (another one I’ve never seen).

I do prefer the cover to the regular release though.

Don’t mind the first cover at all, but the shot of him looks like its from High Sierra
