Maniac (1934) this goes straight into my all time top 3 worst movies of all time. absolutely terrible! the only good thing is it runs less than an hour. they say Edward Wood was the worst director and was responisble for the worst films of all time. i don’t think so try Dwain Esper! :-\
Hehe, it’s a one-of-a-kind. ???
But what happened to a man eating a cat’s eye and (to quote you): “brief shot of some nudity and a fight between two women with hyperdermics.”?
Dillinger (1945) - punchy B-movie biopic of the legendary gangster in which the title character is stripped of the folksy charm given him by later portrayals (think Warren Oates and Johnny Depp) in favour of Lawrence Tierney’s brutish magnetism.
The Oscar-nominated script indulges most gangster movie tropes and offers no backstory, no excuses for Dillinger’s turn to crime. He’s just a malcontent with a mean streak and a certain ingenuity.
The quality supporting cast includes Elisha Cook Jr and Marc Lawrence and the film zips by in around 70 minutes.
Big Gundown ! ! !
Any good?
Pardon?
Yeah, but Dillinger still alive and kicking, so it seems
The’s also a John Milius version with Warren Oates
I saw part of it once on (I think) French televison. Seemed okay, I have been looking for a DVD for a while, but then forgot about it all
Anybody seen it?

Sorry I don’t get it. Maybe I need another coffee.
I hear you can get a great looking version on DVD from Cultcine. Check it out.
Great looking version? With real bullet holes I suppose?
I think the bullet holes were remastered and made more holey.

I haven’t seen this one for a while but remember it very fondly. Oates is excellent as I recall. A perfect part for him to play. Definitely worth giving a try if you get a chance Scherp.

They are making reference to Starblack’s post above, I think. Scherp seems to have responded to your post, though, instead.
Or perhaps, they were just referencing your forum name, amigo! ???
Anyway…
There is a movie called (and about) DILLINGER starring Warren Oates, directed by John Milius.
I was a bit confused too, for a few seconds…maybe I still am!

Kiss the Blood Off My Hands (Norman Foster)
Very low budget movie but has somewonderful visuals and superb performances. Lancaster plays a veteran who’s anger often gets the best of him (much like real life Lancaster). He punches a bar tender when he orders him out of the bar. The man fallsand hits his head, he dies. Lancaster eventually gets entangled with Joan Fontaine, a lonely woman. The film relies on drama over suspense or mystery which are both typical Noir. But the drama works very well and got to me. However, the film is set in London though pbviously not filmedthere. It is more of a small town with high buidlings and unnaturally narrow streets between buildings. Also, fog is copiously embplyed to mask the cheap London set. Very simialr to World for Ransom.
4/5
Love this flick. Monogram was certainly not bothered with making a historically accurate film, but thanks to Tierney, we do get a very entertaining crime flick which simply cashes in on Dillinger’s name.
I have a liking for so bad their good flicks; maybe I’ll search for it on YouTube.

I liked that one, so I will have to look out for this.
Accurate no, but there are certain elements familiar from the Dillinger myth - he carves a gun out of wood to break out of jail (if memory serves, Warren Oates makes one from soap in the Milius version; haven’t seen Public Enemies yet to compare) and of course makes a fateful visit to the cinema with a red-dressed woman to see Manhattan Melodrama…
the beast of the yellow night. man saves himself from death by making a deal with the devil, but he becomes a ravenous flesh eating demon like creature over certain periods. a not too bad phillipine horror from Eddie Romero who directed the "Blood island " trilogy. plays a bit like a werewolf movie and stars John Ashley star of teenagerbeach party films of the late 50’s & early sixties and a singer as well apparently. he also starred in Romero’s “Blood Island Trilogy” and was also a producer of the 1980’s t v series " the A team. the film was made in 1970.it’s not good but it’s not bad ethier 5/10
