Yeah an African Vampire allright ;D

Terminus 1987 Pierre-William Glenn
Men what can I say about this flick, weird as hell. First a strange cast Johnny Hallyday, Jürgen Prochnow (great as always) and Karen Allen only in the first half an hour of the film, (surely to please the American audience) she kind of look like Linda Hamilton in Terminator.
The story it’s strange enought a mix of Mad Max with some sort of Stalker and other stuff, normally the Jurgen Prochnow character would be the good guy, but no he plays the mad scientist that want’s to create a hord of clones to overtake a also bad military goverment, Hallyday very diferent from his The Specialist days, looks odd as the hero (only in a french film I guess) really nout suited for this part, but the film does not help either, all characters look odd enought.
Well the movie just does not work, it’s not fun enought like Mad Max, and by no means a masterpeice like Stalker or Le Derniere Combat.
This must have been some big budet French flick that failed big time, it does not have a cult statues, and I think nobody remembers it, the Special effects look funny this days, but I’ve seen better from the same time the film was made, that computer that spoke like kit but with an image of a mouth was laughable to say the least, but the story it’s not that funny and it even tries to be pretentious, where it never can be with armored trucks and Hallyday with a steel hand on it. The only good thing it’s the visual, the way it’s was filmed using some dark dirty colours that work very well
Well see it just for curiosity,

Watched House of Strangers, not really a film-noir as its stated but a nice original story about betrayal in an Italian family… Edward G Robinsons Italian accent is spot on, he continues to amaze me… did he ever give a bad performance?

Superbitch a.k.a. Si può essere più bastardi dell’ispettore Cliff?

Not seen this for a good 15 years+, I enjoyed it a lot more this time round too, some great recognisable character actors in small roles and some nice early 70’s London locations.

Whats Stephanie Beacham like in this one ?

Cheers for that. Have in a bunch of dvd’rs somewhere…will take a look at weekend  .

If it’s from the old tape under the title Superbitch the print is pretty ropey, the new Italian dvd says it only has Italian audio options on it but it has an English track too. 8)

2000 MANIACS by HG Lewis. Acting was so bad that it kept me watching 'till the very end.

Having previously been impressed with Pan’s Labyrinth and The Devil’s Backbone, I watched the earlier Cronos last night. Altho’ it’s a pretty good film I suppose, I wasn’t really in the mood for it, and would’ve been better off with something a bit more kablowwee.

Reds (Warren Beatty)

A very long and serious film dealing with the later life of famed journalist, John Reed. My Mom remembers this as one of the most boring movies she’s ever seen. But it’s safe to say it’s not exactley the type of film a soft hearted person may enjoy. There is a lot of political arguments that sound very well thought out and precise. The performances are great. Beatty and Keaton actually sound like their arguing for real in some of the tougher scenes. And of course, Vittorio Storaro’s cinematography is great.

Remember having a laugh with this one. But this was a while back so time for a view.

I had a good laugh myself wtih the terrbile acting and the atrocious gore ‘effects’

Not really a movie, but I watched the pilot + first part of the BBC series SURVIVORS

Grim post-apocalyptic show, about small groups of people, the survivors from the title, who have not been touched by a virus that has killed all others, that is: nearly the entire world population. They now try to survive each other in the post-apocalyptic waste land.

Don’t know how things will develop, but so far (2 1/2 hours in total) it’s quite engrossing, well-acted and occasioally even thoughtful

Again not a movie, but I watched the first part of a top-notch British television adaptation of David Copperfield. Has an amazing cast of British thesps, with Trevor Eve as the lugubrious Mr Murdstone and Ian McKellen as the monstrous Mr Creakle standing out for me.

Story not too bad either, of course.

The Killer Inside Me (Michael Winterbottom)

Well, quite the …uh…experience? Can’t really say I liked it as this is probably the most uncomfortable movie experience I’ve had in a long time. Casey Affleck is great as a mild mannered West Texas deputy who has murderous tendencies. There have been films about murderers before, obviously but never quite like this. Our main character hs a habit of beating those he loves to death. And Winterbottom doesn’t shy away from such violence. In fact, he seems to revel in it. The entire act of beating people to death is shown more than once in very very VERY uncomfortable scenes. I usually respect attempts to go against the code of film violence, sometimes, but this film was just a bit too much. There’s a lot of sadomasochistic sex, and I mean a lot. There’s also under age sex, incest, and other deviant sexual scenes. View at your own risk. Definitely not one for the family. Hell, I don’t even think the wife would like seeing it! Let alone the man!

Have seen the 1976 version with Stacy Keach which is pretty good.

The book isn’t a comfortably read either

But a very good book it is, though

I read a few novels by Thompson some twenty-five years ago, the only thing I remember is that they were very unusual and sometimes quite nasty. I do remember that the ending of The Getaway was extremely bizarre.
