Ice Station Zebra (John Sturges)[/quote]

Never a big fan of this one, I guess it use to be on TV so many times, that I got tired of seing it. Not big fan of Rock Hudson either, Frankenheimer’s Seconds maybe it’s best performance, The Devlin Connection was also a cool seire I guess at least asI remember it.

The Looking Glass War

Great film, compared with MArtin Ritt The Spy who came on from the cold, I think it’s even better or at least as good.
Anthony Hopkins is one of the best actors from his generation and I might say one of the best actors ever, and even at the start of his career it was noticeable, (His performance in The remains of the day is one of the best piece of acting I ever seen by an actor).
The film is cold as the war was back on those times, it gives a cruel and deceptive view of the life of secret agents during the cold war

Though, I really like Rock Hudson. I always knew him as a homosexual first before I knew who he really was. And after I actually saw his acting and presence, its more amazing that he was gay. Though I ofcourse don’t judge him by hus sexual preferences.

Today I watched ”Red Cliff” from John Woo, the film should be titled “the big sleep” or “the big so what” instead.
3/10
I also watched “Exiled” from Johnnie To which I liked even though I find it a bit overrated.
6/10

I’ll be watching the uncut version of Red cliff to close the epic marathon. Did you see the combined Western release? The uncut 2 part version runs a total of 280 minutes! So that’ll be a pretty full day.

Yes it was the uncut version that runs 280 I watched. And that’s far too long for this film.
And it’s not the fact that it’s to longwinded in itself that makes it bad IMO.
I just lacks intensity, nerve, action, drama and so on, in other words everything that makes up for a good film.

I don’t mind long films myself. Especially if they have historical basis to back them up. I’ll hope for the best though.

Nor do I if they are well made, I even like “Gone with the wind”.

Messenger of Death (1988)
Charles Bronson in one of his many movies he made for Cannon. He plays a journalist who investigates in a murder case involving Mormons. Not bad at all with at least one exploding car.

And finally Fritz Lang’s great Film Noir The Big Heat.

Interesting. For what it is worth, I completely disagree with you on RED CLIFF and I think EXILED is one of the best films made in the past 6 years. And, personally, I find GONE WITH THE WIND is extremely overrated and if any film should have the title of “the big so what” it should be that one. It just goes to show, once again, that no two people can entirely share the same taste in films.

The last films I watched were JYAMAMONO WA KESE (an early 60’s Nikkatsu Action film with Akagi Keiichiro) and THE GREAT BANK ROBBERY.
I hadn’t seen THE GREAT BANK ROBBERY since I was a kid—and it sure was a lot funnier back then! I had a hard time sitting through it, last night.
The Nikkatsu film (I don’t know how to accurately translate the title) was pretty good.

That is one of my favorites!

“The Descent, part 2”. if you put to the back of your mind that the very good original film does not need a a darn sequel ( especially with the better ending that we had in England). this is a decent carry on from the original film, once it gets going it has some good moments of suspense and the attacks of the cave creatures are just as good and gory as in the first film. not as good of course as the original film but a lot better than it could have been and i expected. 8/10

Black Dynamite

I’m pretty sure this is the funniest movie I’ve ever seen.

Just got back from Iron Man 2…I enjoyed it, definitely better than the first. Mickey Rourke had a cool character.

“Outlander” human like alien crashes onto Earth in Norway viking times and helps them fight a monster. could have been ok but didn’t work for me. lousy acting. average at best 5/10.

THE BLACK GESTAPO. Whacky 70’s blaxploitation full of mean characters and outrageous acting. Good piece of trash cinema.

Last two films I watched:

Jacques Tourneur’s NIGHTFALL (1957) with Aldo Ray and Brian Keith. Very good “noir” flick!

John Woo’s brilliant BULLET IN THE HEAD (1990). Simply one of the best films ever made, in my humble opinion. I believe I have seen this one around a dozen times, now. I will be happy to watch it another dozen times!

Watched also THE FIFTH CORD today. Great cinematography that creates a really dark atmosphere. The story could have been told a bit better on a few occasions and the killings are not brutal enough for italian standards, but anyway this is an above average and stylish giallo the fans of the genre should check out.

Humanoids from the Deep 1980

Nice flick, , great fun, Kill the men rape the woman, that seemed to be moto for the humanoids they weren’t dumb ;D Corman really know how to produced these things, I need to watch more of this stuff, just not to think too much.
Anyway they don’t make them like this no more

Yep…pretty fun film. Monsters big rubber suit style attacking people, and Doug McClure just makes me laugh when he is trying to be serious.
