The Last Movie You Watched? ver.2.0

Two of my fvourite Westerns of recent years, and both starring Kurt Russell…
Does anyone remember him in a Western TV series called ‘The Quest’, which aired on BBC1 in 1976?
Anyhow, Tarentino’s ‘H8’ is definitely growing on me, and - unlike many - I don’t mind the sedate pace which it sets. When the action does come, it is typically bloody and over-the top, just like most of the characters brains…The widescreen cinematography is stupendous to behold…

And, as for ‘Bond Tomahawk’…an undisputed ‘Classic’, in my humble opinion. Another balls-to-the-wall, gutsy slice of Frontier brutality that gets better every time I view it…

Followed by Tomb of Ligeia’. Despite not being my favourite of the Poe/Corman tales, it is, nevertheless, worth watching for the effortless acting by Vincent Price, and the beautiful Elizabeth Shepherd.

Did I mention I saw Dune a second time? Also saw that new netflix movie Intrusion, not all that great. Saw Sahara with Brooke Shields, which was… cute. Saw the amazing Gunfight at the OK Corrall. And I am working on a few others gaps in my knowledge, watching some westerns and other stuff that is about to gather dust on my shelf…

The Hero
Sam Elliott was praised for this movie but it did not work for me. After the auditioning scene I kept looking at the movie like it was the audition as there was no difference in way of acting. I had expected more from this one.

The Natural
Big cast movie with Redford as aging baseball player. Worth watching because of the strong cast. As European I am not into baseball much.

Now start with the Winnetou movies at Netflix :cowboy_hat_face: Maybe safe some for Spaghvember.

What didn’t you enjoy about 1917?

all of it  I think it was boring, bland, uninteresting, and to be honest, after recently having seen a Villeneuve movie in Imax, I dont even tink 1971 has much to offer in the visual department. I didnt really notice or pay attention to the dolly gimmick, so if you take out the fact that it offers some clever craftmanship… I was almost pissed off at how uninteresting a movie it is…

Agreed - A completely overrated and hyped movie, with so many historical inaccuracies, and what lovely clean trenches these chaps had to occupy !! Lucky devils

I hadn’t seen this for years…still an undisputed classic horror from Stephen King and Brian DePalma.
In a way, I find the cold-hearted, callous bullying from Carrie’s classmates, and the mad-as-a-hatter religious fanatic mother, almost as terrifying as the well-executed supernatural elements…

I think Stephen King or George R.R. Martin said much the same thing. Still haven’t watched this one yet, but that cover is really spooky.

No Time to Die. Solid. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, sometimes cute, sometimes almost brilliant, overall… solid.
