That’s a tough question … both are shite, but ‘Tango’ is slightly shittier ![]()
I have to go with TC on the account it makes me less angry.
Just watched Stephen King’s Misery for the third time. Although it doesn’t quite have the same impact since I know what to expect, it still held up as an excellent thriller. Kathy Bates’ performance is brilliantly terrifying and she certainly deserved the Oscar. I watched it on an old VHS that I had stored away in a box. It’s not really the kind of film that you need to see on a remastered Blu-ray to fully appreciate it.
I have MISERY in a Stephen King DVD boxset. It is great, I think it could have got best picture! I never read the book, so I couldn’t compare it.
The ‘magic’ of Blu Ray only applies to films of a certain age when the restoration is really noticeable.

I gather you didn’t like it. ![]()
How much of it is just porn and what else is actually in the movie besides that?
The thing is there’s hardly any porn at all (at least in this version I saw) there’s some nudity and terribly unerotic soft core scenes. There might be some kind of plot there but I didn’t get it.
‘TT - CLOSER TO THE EDGE’
Because ‘Covid 19’ has led to the cancellation of the famous ‘Isle of Man TT’ (Tourist Trophy) motorbike races this year (due to be held from 30th May - to 13th June), I’ve decided to settle for this magnificent film/documentary, featuring Guy Martin, and his bid to win the Senior Race, in 2010, and stand triumphant on the prestigious ‘Grandstand’ podium.
“Just because you’re breathing, doesn’t mean you’re alive…”
For anyone who loves the ‘TT’, motor bikes, or simply wants to see how this historic race affects the Island, and its inhabitants, once a year, then this is required viewing. What makes the ‘TT’ unique, is that is takes place on closed public roads.
The documentary not only follows Guy’s personal journey, but also chronicles the many challenges faced by riders from all nations, and the ‘buzz’ that requires the Island to be on ‘red alert’ for two weeks, as the population increases by 20-25,000 fans, eager for a good time.
It is impossible to come away from the event, without feeling the utmost respect for those involved.

Having been born, and grown up on the Isle of Man, this is a must-watch.
’CARNIVAL OF SOULS’ (1962)
A woman experiences weird goings-on, after having survived a fatal car accident, which killed two of her friends. Is she experiencing a nightmare, or is the nightmare a reality?
I was first introduced to this shoe-string pic, when it featured on the Alex Cox ‘Moviedrome’ series, many years ago, and it has always remained in my top 100.
Although made on the cheap, this flic is atmospheric, and the black and white photography is exceptionally used.

If you don’t go into this expecting ‘Insidious’, or ‘Sinister’, then you won’t be disappointed.
It is a product of its time, and just goes to show that a crop can be produced from a single seed.
It reminded me of the original CABINET OF DOCTOR CALIGARI in mood and photography.
In my view these are ALL MASTERPIECES!!!
In no particular order.

Had a triple bill of Clint at his coolest; a John Carpenter favourite; and the fourth instalment of the original ‘Apes’ saga…
Love the ‘Conquest of the Planet of the Apes’ poster … alas this movie is the weakest in the original series - I’d watch it again for nostalgic reasons, but I always felt the sequels were handled without much love … reduced budgets etc, as mentioned in the great documentary.
Only saw one on the big screen, ‘Escape’, which was the first half of a double bill with ‘Digby the Biggest Dog in the World’
I always thought that COOGAN’S BLUFF was good enough for a sequel. I disagree that it was merely a prototype DIRTY HARRY. THEY LIVE has one of my favourite action film lines. If we have seen the same documentary CONQUEST had to be re edited and the finale dubbed.
It was the feature length doc included in the boxset of original ape movies - Loved all this stuff when I was a kid … still have lots of the Annuals from the TV series and the Marvel comic, which was out around 1975 … the comic also went seriously down hill after issue 20 or so … crappy artwork - but I picked up a load of them at a sale about 30 years ago … 10p each
Now I see many of them are going for mucho dinero on ebay.
Don’t remember much about the ‘Conquest’ re-edit … apart from something about cuts for violence ?
I never collected the comic but I had some of the actions figures which also go for a hefty sum these days🤑.
I have various comics left, the oldest is a Jason and the argonauts adaption. Movie adaptions are the ones I used to go for.
This kind of collecting was much easier for me in the 1990s … as this stuff was really being junked at the charity shops, and going for very little money.
Back in the 70s pocket money was very scarce … even buying a 75p paperback was a big deal !!!
I wasn’t a tingle in my Dad’s loins then but I know the history of the 70s.
My collecting started with collector cards and paperbacks. Mainly Hammer horror. I remember getting the paper backs cheap. I regret selling them on.
That’s classic - I’ll borrow that expression, if I may !? LOL ![]()
