Like Aliens and The Terminator by Cameron and thats it. Mean action films…the way I like them.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Unlike some people, I’m keeping an open mind about Avatar.
Saw 2012 today. Watching it, I thought it cost 300 million… turns out it was 260. But I’m sure it would be closer to 500 million plus marketing, so now they just about broke even before making a profit. Crazy isn’t it…
Every time I see these popcorn movies, all I can think of is the cost going into it. And while the special effects are fun, there cheaper ways for thrills. I keep thinking of how much money would be better spent on smaller, but better movies that actually stimulate, instead of numbing people.
Anyway… I didn’t find 2012 to be horrible. Transformers took the honor already.
Regardless of Cameron’s involvement, Avatar just doesn’t look very good to me…
I saw this (Transformers) when it came out in the cinema. It was awful. One of the worst movie’s I’ve ever seen. It was transcentantly awful, in fact.
I don’t think you should judge a movie by its trailer. After all, For a Few Dollars More had a trailer that was among the worst of its kind, and that is a brilliant movie.
its not just the trailer… its the look of the film. For something that we’re told is the cutting edge, I don’t think the CGI looks terribly impressive, personally. Looks like standard video game graphics to my eyes… and I can’t say I’m much interested in the film itself
Yes I watched a lot of Crap this year in cinema (Last Year was fantastic!!) and the comeback of Mr. Cameron could be a highlight. Hopefully it’s not like Titanic …
Well, judging from the clip (and they aren’t always very reliable), there does seem to be more action, shooting, etc, etc…
Ok, so after seeing a different trailer for Avatar, I will say the effects look more impressive than I originally thought. Still though, this is basically what video games look like nowadays during the story telling segments, so the novelty aspect is already worn thin…
And still, I don’t know why, but nothing about it grabs me. I’m completely un-interested in this film
ive seen like four different Avatar trailers and each one gives the movie a different tone…one was all adventurous and gave off a vibe like its for kids…one was all military and serious…lol…what the hell IS this movie?
It is a Si-Fi epic that will probably make hundreds of millions of dollars. And that’s just in the first day!
Last film I saw in the Theater (as us Yanks like to say! ha ha!) was INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS (5 times!). Probably my most favorite Tarantino movie, now.
Before that, it was PUBLIC ENEMIES with Johnny Depp as Dillinger. I liked it well enough to see it twice in the Cinema.
It’s odd, but I keep hearing people gong to the cinema more than once to see the same film (not that there is anything wrong with that). I use to think that it was just some wierd people, but now it seems like everyone does and me (who only ever goes to see a film once in the cinema) is the odd one out. Strange.
If a film is really good, I will see it multiple times at the cinema, because there are not many chances to see really good films these days
True, but I don’t have the money to see a movie more than once; cash dosen’t grow in wallets it seems.
I don’t either… If I see a film more than once, I usually wait till it hits the second run theater to see it again. Then it only costs $1.00 - $2.50 depending on the day
I was extremely lucky and received a couple of free passes for INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, so two of the showings I went to didn’t cost me anything.
I never go to the the theater for evening shows, those are just way too expensive. I always go for the earliest matinee showing possible. Here that only costs around $4.00.
I should move to America.
Well I think Chris is lucky. Where I live, even the early films cost at least $6.00… evening films costing $8 or more
Wow! I guess I am lucky, amigo! 6 bucks for a matinee is really pretty high! The evening shows down here in Sierra Vista, Arizona run about the same though ($8.00-$9.00).
I know you are in Springfield, MO—and I moved my parents from there to here about four years ago.
Before they moved out here, I would go to visit them and catch matinee showings at the Wehrenberg Campbell 16 for around $4.00. Crazy how much things can change in four or five years!
When I first moved out here the matinee shows were running around $3.00.
