I saw “Limitless” this weekend. I enjoyed it for what it was–a fun and predictable movie. I really like Bradley Cooper and he dominated the movie, so that was nice.
i’m ashamed to confess that the last movie i saw in a cinema theatre was “pirates of the carrabian”. we don’t have theatres that show italos…
if somebody is looking for 3-D effects and perfect sound cinema is great, but for 50’s, 60’s and 70’s movies DVDs + a large TV + 5.1 sound is more experience than i ever wanted way back in the eighties.
I saw Duncan Jones’s (director of Moon) new film, Source Code at the cinema last night. Not bad, with an interesting execution of a splendid example of hokum science, and the ending goes off the rails. 3/5.
Just got back from seeing Faster Pussycat Kill Kill. Fun movie! I’ll definitely be checking out some more Russ Meyer films in the near future.
“faster pussycat kill! kill!” in a cinema ! you must be lucky, here in austria we only get the newest blockbusters…
maybe you will like “motor psycho” and “mudhoney” too.
Yes. One of the few good things about living in LA is we have some theaters showing classic movies. I want to see Motor Psycho next…Haji (one of the stars of Faster Pussycat) did a Q&A after the movie and she mentioned it quite a few times.
World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles :o
Don’t know why they gave Battle L.A. a new title in Germany. Maybe else it would sound too boring. I would rename the movie into Kill all the Aliens and come back with few! ;D
Sad to say the only thing I’m able to see at the theatre these days are movies for the kids. Took the boys to see Hop this weekend, they’ve been wanting to see it. It wasn’t terrible, it’s semi-watchable. The only reason you should see this movie is if you have kids and they want to see it, it’s no Rango.
Saw the Liam Neeson thriller Unknown, good enough movie even if it had some Obvious twists in it. Some decent action towards the end of movie made it a worth while watch.
I just got back from seeing Thor. It saw it in 3D, which just got in the way of the movie. Unfortunately, they were only showing it in 3D, so I didn’t have much choice. The sooner everyone gets over this stupid fad, the better. I’m already tired of the unnecessary headaches, the darkened images, the blurry foregrounds and not being able to follow action properly.
Aside from that, the movie was okay. It needed more eighties heavy metal style music, which would have made it an instant classic. Nevertheless, it was watchable, very entertaining in parts, with a smattering of excellent scenes. Thor’s trip to earth reminded me of the opening of Richard Donner’s first Superman movie, which put a smile on my lips, and there were some other similarly charming moments.
As superheroes go, I think Thor is going to be a tough sell to audiences. However, they’ve put in some good groundwork for the Avengers movie when that comes out, and there’s enough material for a solid sequel. Not a bad showing all in all.
I saw Fast Five last night. You might all hate me for this, but I quite liked it. It was full of cheese, but was good fun. There were some good action sequences (straight out of Modern Warfare 2) and the car chases, although extremely far-fetched, managed to entertain. I got a kick out of seeing Vin Diesel and The Rock on screen together (The Rock is so huge and ripped he actually managed to make Vin Diesel look fairly average at times). Yeah, what you would expect, but not bad.
I hate you! >:(
lol, but seriously, the only film of the series I saw is Fast & Furious (2009) and I seem to remember all the car chases using a ton of CGI. Is it still like that? I hate them, CGI car chases are no fun. Neither is most CGI action, if you ask me.
My guess is that we will be seeing more films made in Brasil in the future, this one even got Joaquim d’Almeida as the usual Latin bad guy, lol more typecast than that

No, actually. I didn’t really think that much of it, but the friend I went commented that he was happy with the way the car chases were shot and that there wasn’t lots of CGI. I pretty much hate CGI any way it’s used, so it would have annoyed me if it was too much on evidence. That said, it might not have been CGI-enhanced, but the action was all extremely far-fetched.
It’s been a long time since I saw the first movie (in the cinema), but I preferred this latest in the series.
‘scars’ total trash!
slasher soup with crap acting and boring dialogs >:(
waste of money and time

Good to know. And actually, my memory of the one I saw are a little bit fuzzy, I’m not sure anymore of how much CGI was involved.
“Thor”
I thought it was a total blast.
Hanna - Joe Wright
This is an amazing film.
One of the best action movies of the last 10 years, and one with a very intelligent concept of filming the action, and having the action ruffianly pushed through by the brutish electro-rock score of The Chemical Brothers as part of a thoughtful narrative structure combining realism with the innocent charm of a fairy tale to tell a clever story with interesting characters.
And Saoirse Ronan is fantastic in the lead and makes the great-as-always Cate Blanchet and Eric Bana look comparatively pale.
Mesmerizing 10/10

Saw her in a kiddie movie the other day, you could immediately say she was a fatastic actress
Just got back from seeing Attack the Block, which I thought was a barrel of fun. It might not be quite so entertaining to audiences outside of the UK, but it deserves a nice spot next to Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. It was of that calibre in terms of charming Brit action comedy.
