Yes indeed … ‘Heaven’s Gate’ (1980) … which I regret not getting to see on the big screen … and I mean enormous screen, pre multi plex cinemas. The film played in my local for a few days and was pulled because of low attendances and mainly all the hullabaloo … there are plenty of movies that didn’t do well but were always on for at least a week, so it was really the media that killed this film and United Artists as a producer distributor.
Cheers Aldo. Heaven’s Gate has some amazing cinematography and great production values, but the story leaves a lot to be desired imho. I was never a big fan of Cimino’s writing, but i still enjoyed my viewing of that film thanks to how visually pleasing it is to watch.
Here’s a film that I think is quite overlooked. A martial arts actioner from the 21st century.
Yep, that’s the one. I guess mike tyson made it obvious. Really good film imo. It has the best action sequences in the “Ip Man” franchise, although the story is very weak and nowhere near as good as that of the first one… but a weak story is the norm with martial arts flicks, no one watches these movies for the story, it’s all about the action… the first one was an exception (albeit still nothing extraordinary).
The distinguished Bellamy, of course, featured in the excellent Western, ‘The Professionals’ (1966)…
And, as for Gordon Jackson in the TV Cult phenomenon, ‘The Professionals’ (AKA ‘The 70’s Kick Ass’)…well what is there to say except what a cracking series it was…one of my all-time favourites…
