The Dead Don't Hurt (2023 / Mortensen)

Database page: The Dead Don't Hurt - The Spaghetti Western Database

Ah, I’d recommend avoiding the first link from The Playlist. It mentions something which, though in the first frame, seems like it’d be more impactful seeing without knowing it’s coming.

This one looks good (but brutal)

Great to see Viggo Mortensen making a western. Of course we also have Kevin Costners Horizon: An American Saga that releases this summer. A good year for westerns

It is a Danish co-production, should it be in the database? Still haven’t seen it I am afraid

Need to re-up my question about The Dead Don’t Hurt. This being a Danish movie, but a western, it is a Eurowestern right and should be in the SWDb? Any disagreements? I mean, in terms of production companies though it seems a UK-USA-Mexico production though, not sure why I am thinking Danish.

probably because Viggo Mortensen sounds Danish?

And plays a Dane in the movie it seems. In fact he is considered half-Danish in Denmark and when he does interviews in Denmark it’s always done in Danish and he speaks the language perfectly. So there

ah good, but the movie isn’t danish, but a UK/USA/Mexico production? Who knows more about it? We have movies in the database that aren’t even half as European as this one so methinks it should be in there?

Well it’s co-produced by Perceval Pictures which is a company Viggo Mortensen seems to have started and that is in fact registered as a Danish company so that would make it partly Danish I guess. It figures as a co-production between Canada, Mexico and Denmark on the movies wikipiedia page.
