Tell Me What To Get For Christmas!

Hi Pistoleros,

I want to get a couple of KOCH DVDs for Christmas and am trying to decide which to buy. I realised the other day the only Anthony Steffen movie I’ve seen is Django the Bastard.

So, can anyone recommend a couple of the best Steffen movies out on Koch DVD? Im thinking A Train For Durango because it has the Mark Damon interview too (I know, I know). Any advice?

Thanks

Angel Face

Yeah, take Durango, the best of the bunch.

the other Steffen films are also not bad, but there are generally more rewarding films in the Rainbow collection. Unless you already have them.

Killer Kid.

These are the Rainbow collection films I Don’t yet have, anything better amongst these?

  • 1.1 May God Forgive You… But I Won’t (#27)
    • 1.2 Bullets Don’t Argue (#26)
    • 1.3 Thompson 1880 (#25)
    • 1.4 Shango (#24)
    • 1.5 Ringo - The Lone Rider (#23)
      • 1.8 3 bullets for Ringo (#20)
    • 1.9 Nebraska Jim (#19)
    • 1.10 Hate Thy Neighbor (#18)
    • 1.11 Cjamango (#17)
      • 1.19 Train for Durango (#9)
    • 1.21 A Barrel Full of Dollars (#7)
    • 1.22 Seven Dollars on Red (#6)
    • 1.23 Killer Kid (#5)
    • 1.25 Arizona Colt Returns (#3)

If you ask me Durango is indeed by far the best. Some others are ok ( 5; 6; 17; 18; 24; 25). Depends on how hardened you are.

Bullets Don’t Argue is a naive one, but not bad
May God Forgive You… But I Won’t wasn’t released yet, and will maybe not in the near future.

7 is only for Fidani fans and Arizona Colt Returns is a total turkey imo

3 bullets for Ringo is one many despise, but I had fun with it. Some scenes are pretty good.

Wrapped in mystery release (see Forum topic)…

Well I got through the phase of “I’ve seen all the good ones, there are no good ones left”, I’ve had some unexpected pleasures since then. I still couldn’t sit through Fidani though.

Durango and Killer Kid are both good picks and if you are after Steffen you could do a lot worse than Seven Dollars on Red. Outside of those I would maybe recommend Hate Thy Neighbour from the ones listed.

Can’t really remember anything about Killer Kid…

Top 5 of the ones listed
Shango
Cjamango (Koch disc looks better than the Wild East disc)
Hate Thy Neighbor (Koch disc looks way better than the Wild East disc)
Train for Durango
Barrel Full of Dollars

Bottom
Thompson 1880

I cannot recommend Killer Kid. Boring film with a quite weird plot. Steffen is not among my favorite actors either, you get the point now…

Train for Durango is the best of the ones listed for me, even though it ain’t exactly my favorite style when it comes to SW. But it’s a quality film.

i think Killer Kid is the same case as Cjamango for instance - after the watch i swore i don´t want to come across with that flick

Unfortunately I am not a big fan of any of the Anthony Steffen films available from Koch except maybe Arizona Colt returns.

The Steffen films that I love, Garringo, Dead Men Don’t Count, No room to die, Stranger in Paso Bravo, Two Pistols and a Coward are either not available by Koch or not available at all.

I decided to go with A Train For Durango from KOCH and ordered No Room To Die from some guy on ebay! I always liked the sound of No Room To Die.

That’s a good one. Top 20 material ;D

No room to die is also one of the films included in the Best of Spaghetti Westerns Good bad and ugly boxset.
