Apologies. I should have checked my facts more…Thanks, Phil.

I’ll leave another couple of days for any more nominations and then I’ll set up for voting at the weekend.

A correction for the " SWDB Hall of Fame/Leading Actresses", regarding Rosalba Neri, she was not in Long Days Of Vengeance, but Long Days Of Hate. The link though is correct.

Excuse my ignorance, but who is Raoul- nominated as a contributor? Thanks.

He’s the singer you’ve been hearing for years on SW soundtracks, ‘Death Rides a Horse’ etc

Since we have Maurizio Graf in the contributors and now Raoul is also on the nominations list, I’d like to propose another singer to the same category:

Peter Tevis

Seems our man, ‘Raoul Lo Vecchio’ (the old one) is credited as an actor as well as the performer of some great theme songs - Under different names or variations of the same.

My favourite is from , ‘15 Scaffolds for an Assassin’ … nice twangy guitar and over the top vocal.

Any more nominees?
Currently we only have one each in the Cinematography and Composer categories so Carlo Carlini and Carlo Rustichelli will be automatics.

Because we haven’t had any new inductees for a few years I will be inducting at least one new person in each category and 3 more in the Lead and Supporting Actors list.

Last chance for any more nominees

For cinematography, I’d like to nominate Riccardo Pallottini … because he’s the DP on ‘Blindman’, which I think is one of the best looking SWs … he also shot, pun intended’, ‘Django Shoots First’ and ‘Massacre Time’ amongst many others.

Thanks Aldo.
Pallotini has been added to the nomination list

OK, nominations are now closed so let’s start voting.
I’m going to do this in sections to ensure every section gets some votes and to keep it clear because some sections will have more inductees than others this time around.
First section will be Lead Male Actors and the nominees are:

Lead Actors

Craig Hill

One of the most prolific leading men in the genre, Hill featured in some 15 Spaghetti Westerns, mostly in starring roles. Stand outs amongst these were: A Taste of Killing, Bury Them Deep, I Want Him Dead and Seven Pistols for a Massacre.

George Martin

Even more prolific than Hill, Martin featured in no less than 18 spaghettis. He was one of the premier Spanish actors in the genre and featured in such genre favourites as A Pistol For Ringo, The Return of Ringo, Sonora, Red Blood, Yellow Gold, Thompson 1880 and Clint the Stranger.

Leonard Mann

Most memorable in his lead role in The Forgotten Pistolero, Mann featured in three spaghettis in total before going on to make his mark in the Poliziotteschi genre. His other spaghetti outings were Ciak Mull and Vengeance Trail.

Andrea Giordana

Also billed as “Chip Corman” Giordana had the lead in three first rate spaghettis. The Dirty Outlaws, The Taste of Death and Johnny Hamlet. He went on to have a successful career in Italian television after the spaghetti craze petered out.

Henry Fonda

American acting legend Henry Fonda made only two westerns in Italy but their success and lasting impact means that his is an enduring face in the genre. The shock of Fonda being revealed in the early scenes of Once Upon a Time in the West still remains after all these years and it could be said his role in My Name is Nobody drew the curtains on the genre in 1973.

Charles Bronson

With only one bona fide Italian western in his resume it could be said that Bronson is a stretch to be included in the genre’s hall of fame. But the scale of that one role (Harmonica in Once upon a Time in the West) and the fact that he also appeared in five other eurowesterns (Red Sun, Guns of San Sebasitan, Chato’s Land, Chino and Villa Rides) means that his image looms large and he has a valid shout.

James Coburn

Another American with only a couple of credits in the genre but another whose image has a lasting effect and another who benefited from being associated with Leone. His other spaghetti A Reason to Live, a Reason to Die may have a mixed reputation among fans but his role as “Sean, Sean Sean!” will linger long and fondly with us.

Jean Louis Trintignant

French star Trintignant made only one Italian western but it was a cracker and he was perfect in it. Is playing the lead without a spoken line in The Great Silence enough to win him a place in the Hall of Fame? You decide.

Fabio Testi

Coming to stardom late in the genre meant that Testi had less opportunities to feature prominently in many of the best spaghettis but he still managed to make a couple of very good ones along a few Fidanis and even a Zanna Bianca clone in his 10 westerns as well as a blink and you’ll miss him appearance in Once Upon a Time in the West. Dead Men Ride and Four of the Apocalypse are probably his stand outs in a leading role.
