Just mulling over some ideas for next year, tell me what you think:

  1. We’ll go back to 1 nominee and 3 votes for each member.

  2. What do you guys think about private votes only? PMing me votes as opposed to posting your choices here. Do you think publically posting your votes may influence other people’s votes and undermine the integrity?

  3. Top five vote getters regardless of category, are you guys happy with this?

  4. What do you guys think about the concept of ā€œ1st ballotā€ votes? One of your votes can be considered ā€œ1st ballotā€ and is accorded more weight in the votings. This is for nominees that you feel especially strong about. The other 2 votes are just regular votes. So someone with less overall votes but with more 1st ballot votes may still get in. Good idea? Bad?

Just a reminder, voting ends Dec. 1st midnight.

1- I’m cool with either this or the format used this year. I just want to contribute

2- I really like this idea, Col.

3-I’m not sure about this one. It could lead to becoming unbalanced. What if the top 5 vote getters are lead actors for example?

4-Great idea! I like this one a lot.

i agree

no, i don’t think so - at least not me - but if someone doesn’t want expose his controversial votes he can PM you, right?
by the way, i’m always curious about others votes, it’s kinda fun to see votes of our colleagues

no comment

fine by me, it could make things more interesting

@ The Col.

Interesting ideas Colonel. This year’s worked okay so far, because everyone takes it seriously and haven’t really been exploiting this ā€œloopholeā€. However, I do think next year we go back to the voting system you talk about.

Private votes? I always end up voting for the same people by-and-large until they get in anyhow, but if you feel anyone has been intimadated but other’s choices, I don’t mind at all to everyone voting through PM’ing you.

I’m not sure about a weighted voting system - I think that’s something we need a general consensus on.

Before I forget to vote - I find it harder this time around so I think I’ll just go with the one I’m sure about giving my vote to :

I also agree this is for the best.

I don’t really know, but either way I don’t see how going PM only has any downside (except for the curious  ), so why not?

I think it’s been pretty balanced so far, but who knows? Answer : not me! :stuck_out_tongue:

Not sure about this, but I’m not against either.

No doubt about it. 8)

^Absolutely none! Viva Vari! ;D

The results have been tabulated. I am pleased to announce the Spaghetti Western Database Hall of Fame Enshrinees for 2013.

Because of a tie in the voting, there are 6 inductees this year.

Congratulations to this year’s class both living and posthumous, may they their legacies forever live on in Spaghetti Western history. Thank you to those who participated in this year’s 4th annual SWDB voting process.

I will try to get the bios up on the page within the next few weeks. If someone can help me post the wanted posters/Plaques on the page for both this year’s and previous year’s that would be a great help.

As for ideas for next year:

  1. We’ll go back to 1 nominee and 3 votes for each board member.

  2. We will keep the open voting because nobody is really against it and I don’t think it has negatively skewed the results. You are free of course to confidentially vote as well if you do not wish your ballot to be seen.

  3. Top five vote getters (6 if there is a tie) will continue, regardless of category. This year’s votes were quite balanced. However, if next year 3 or 4 of the 5 inductees are from a single category, I will be inclined to modify this policy.

  4. Next year I will introduce the ā€œ1st ballotā€ vote concept as an experiment. I think it will make voting more fun and add another dimension to it. Many other voting concepts include something similar, such as ā€œ1st place votesā€ for All-NBA teams in basketball. If people don’t like it I will eliminate it, but for now I think it is fair to at least try it out and see what happens.

To my way of thinking a wider list of nominees is positive (and more interesting), so why not 3 nominees and 5 votes for each member?

Sure JC! We can certainly do that. I wouldn’t want more than 5 though. Keeping the number of votes low would make sure that each vote is ā€œdedicatedā€ and people aren’t just voting for whoever in order to fill up their ballot.

However, for nominees I would prefer if there is a limit to 1, at the most 2, since I need the pool of candidates to be concentrated for fairer tabulation.

Opinions anyone?

I’m happy that Horst Frank made it in. As for the # of nominees, I like 3. If it was cut down to 2, that would be ok as well. One nominee is too limiting IMHO. Anyway, congratulations to all the inductees!

Okay, I can try 5 votes and 3 nominees for next year if you guys want. The problem I have with that however is that if everybody is allowed 3 nominations, the number of candidates will grow too large, and you’ll have a bunch of nominees with only one vote each, and people will get voted in with just 2 or 3 votes. Unless I put a cap on the number of nominees as well.

If I do 3 nominees I’ll have to limit the number of candidates to around 15 or si and then only a few people will be able to nominate. So there lies my dilemma.

It makes sense that nominations should be limiting but what do you guys think?

All my choices got in! Great work Col. Douglas Mortimer, well done to everyone who voted and congratulations to all six inductees!

Yes, thanks for taking care of the Hall of Fame, Col.! All very deserving inductees, I’m especially happy that Giuseppe Vari made it.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with one nominee per person.

You can always rely on me, colonel. Just upload them at imageshack for instance, I’ll do the rest.
