SWDb Spaghetti Western Hall of Fame

Damn! I can’t vote!
Wow…! How time flies… I feel like I’ve only just help finish create the page for the SWDB Hall of Fame…
I was thinking the same. Maybe once a year is too often to do this?

How many SWs have you seen then?

I have only seen fifteen Spaghetti Westerns.

You could just ask for some SWs you want, and someone on the forum who has those will send them.

However, I am working on my vote now (will hopefully not be as personal as last time ;)).

I think every year is fine but, like Scherp says, if we have too many inductees it will lose its relevance. The Hall of Fame should be for the most significant people who contributed to the cycle. An exclusive club if you like. So if you want to keep it to the same categories I would say just have one new entry for each and have a minimum vote criteria so that we don’t get someone voted in by default. I’m thinking in terms of the issues we had last time with producers, scriptwriters, etc where some folk just voted for the only ones they’d heard of.
Fundamentally my feeling on this is that less is more. The harder it is to get voted in the more it will mean.

On this topic also, it struck me that we don’t have a link to the Hall of Fame on the front page. At least not one I could see.

I find that the Euros in the DB like movies that us yanks wouldn’t really say are the greatest. And the Euros here do out number us yanks. So why not have a European pole and an American pole. Everyone votes in their region they live. Besides, who are any of you to say hall of fame this or hall of fame that. It would mean its official and recognized, but by who? The forty or so of you that decided to do it. Not looking for a fight here just though I would point out the obvious. Besides I can go read some top tens on this very db and pritty much figure what the hall of fame sw movies will be.

Wait your not talking about flicks, your talking about contributions to the forum. either way its Like I said before

It would mean its official and recognized, but by who?

Nice idea though, which one of you wants to read the whole DB then decided who has the most merit? not me… I only read in english ;D

Well you have plenty more to enjoy then  .

In light of what Phil and Scherp said, I say maybe it goes like this:

Leading actors: 2
Supporting actors: 2
Actresses: 1
Directors: 2
Composers:1
Producers, Cinematographers, Writers, Non-participants: 2 regardless of category.

What do you think?

Also what do you guys think about the Enzo Barboni situation that I described above?

I would say once they’re in they’re in and shouldn’t be up for nomination in any other category.

Ok cool thanks Phil. Although I still feel bad about some people who have contributed equally in different fields. Oh well, I’ll just mention the other stuff they did in their bios.

Just my opinion Len.
Get other folk’s views before you make a call.

Yes, I think that is about right. We don’t want to run the well dry too soon. As for the Enzo Barboni situation, I’m in agreement with Phil; once they’re in , they’re in that catorgory and shouldn’t be in any other.

Please be as objective as possible. Do not just vote for your own personal favorites. Vote for those who truly deserve it based on their contributions, significance, and impact.

The ballot is as follows:
Leading actors: Vote for 2
Supporting actors: Vote for 2
Actresses: Vote for 1
Directors: Vote for 2
Composers: Vote for 1
Producers, Cinematographers, Writers, Non-participants: Vote for just two from these four categories. ( I hope that is clear).

Your votes are final, you cannot change them once you’ve submitted them so think long and hard before submitting your ballot. I will accept ballots via PM. The deadline is December 20th. In order to qualify as a voter, you must have had at least 100 posts on this forum and you must have seen at least 40 SWs. For those of you who do not qualify and still want to vote, shoot me a PM and we can work something out. Results will be announced New Years Day.
