SWDb Spaghetti Western Hall of Fame

Gunfight at Red Sands is a good one and IMO the best Pre-Fistful SW. It even has a Morricone Soundtrack

I think this is all going off topic way too far. What we have to decide on is a definative list of nominees.
I think this is actually a good point. Apart from anything else, in the wonderful world of Spaghetti co production credits, it is pretty difficult to know who really did what in these areas. I would suggest we stick to the following:

Actor
Actress
Director
Composer
Cinematographer

and then have special honours for individuals who made a genuine impact in another field.

I do think a section for supporting actors would be a good idea too though. There has to be an opportunity for Robledo, Boyd, Pazzafini and the like to get their moment in the sun.
I’m d’accord!

I could live with that!

No, you are Dillinger

But Gunfight did not launch a genre  To me, Fistful will be the first real spaghetti also, because it is the one that is responsible for the hundreds of spaghettis really. When the films copied the genre style, they weren’t taking elements from Gunfight At Red Sands or any other early period spaghettis…

Ok I’ll go ahead with it.
She shouldn’t be in, like all the others who made only a short visit to the genre.

Same goes for Henry Fonda or James Coburn.

We should really concentrate on people who were really important for the genre, who are still identified with the genre.
Yes this is where the votiing will get a little dicey. Its the old quanitity vs quality question. At the end of the day we have to model it after the baseball hall of fame or something equivalent. Only the “Elite” are inducted. Is Claudia Cardinale an “Elite” SW star? Thats for voters to decide.
Therefore we should have categories like:

Best Villain
Best Gunplay
Best Anti-hero
This is more fitting for the “SWDB Oscars”. Maybe we can call it “The Sergios” LOL.

But for a hall of fame, we do not choose scenes or characters or movies. We only choose people in the industry. Thats what a hall of fame is supposed to be.

Taken from Wikipedia:

A hall of fame is a type of museum established for any a field of endeavor to honor individuals of noteworthy achievement in that field.

In some cases, these halls of fame consist of actual halls or museums which enshrine the honorees with sculptures, plaques, and displays of memorabilia. In others the hall of fame is more figurative and simply consists of a list of names of noteworthy individuals maintained by an organization or community.

I tried sending the ballot to everyone through PM. If you haven’t recieved a ballot and wish to vote just let me know. You can PM or email me your votes or just post it there.

So this discussion seems to be ended? Voting starts or what?!

Why do we suddenly have leading and supporting actors? IMO nonsense!
There are so many actors, who starred in both leading AND supporting roles.
So we would have to judge on certain roles in certain flicks and not on general efforts in the field of SW.
We should drop that distinction!

Has a real hall of fame categories at all?

Why don’t we each just pick 10 persons and the 10 with the most votes get into the hall.

You could list their acheivements under their names, so the categories are then attached to the person, rather than the other way around

I’ma post mine here.

Voting starts. You may vote a person in both categories if you feel he belongs to both. I don’t see that as a problem at all.

THere has to be categories. I realize because of cultural reasons you might not be familiar with the concept of what a hall of fame is supposed to be like. Just imagine if we had a football hall of fame with 10 of the best players of all time inducted in categories of midfielder, striker, fullback, goalkeeper, manager etc…and under modern, pioneer etc…Think of it that way.

That would make tallying more difficult but I appreciate your suggestion. On the actual hall of fame inductee we will list the inductees along with the categories in which they are inducted for underneath or beside their names.

I guess we can post our votes in this topic, although I was under the impression that voting should be confidential but eh it doenst matter.

to those who already voted so far, excellent job!

Oh and another point. If it says name 10 and you can only think of 9, thats okay. I should’ve said “name up to 10”.

Feel free to send your votes anytime over the next month or so, no need to rush. This voting should be taken seriously so its okay to sleep on it. I think the deadline can be december 15th. How’s that?

OK then…

It doesn’t have to launch a genre to be a true SW. Sorry off topic…

For some reason I have not yet been sent a ballot. Could you please send me one. Thank you.

I’ve submitted my votes to the Colonel. Looking forward to how the voting goes this year.

I didn’t receive a PM ballot, either. I have a feeling that plan didn’t work, Colonel mi amigo!
I will try to get my list directly to you, very soon.
