SWDb December recap

Welcome back for the first newsletter from in and around the Spaghetti Western Database world at the start of the new year. This is to give a short overview summary of December 2020.

For those who missed it, we now post announcements in the Newsletter category of our forums, which is set up so that everyone is watching that category for new topics by default (you can opt out of this using the “bell” icon :bell: at the top right corner of that category). So you should have been notified of this very announcement with the little notification dot in the forums itself - or via email :mailbox_with_mail:, if you weren’t currently logged in. This is our new way of testing a :incoming_envelope: newsletter that ties more neatly into our community. If it works well we will phase out our separate purely email-based mailing list which we rarely make use of.

Please do let us know how this works for you and what you think about it.

:newspaper: NEW STUFF IN AND AROUND THE SWDB IN :spiral_calendar: DECEMBER 2020:

  1. :film_strip: Some of us took the time before and during the holidays to add a whole lot of pictures and posters to the database. Many more movies now have Pictures subpages and we will continue to improve the resolution and quality of pictures and posters we offer. Please get in touch with us if you have better versions of posters, lobby cards, still images or other material that we currently only offer in very small or bad qualitz.

  1. :dvd: New and upcoming discs: December saw no new releases of spaghetti westerns on home video, but one soundtrack and one new book. To find out about this month’s releases and those of the upcoming months, please consult our release calender. We always appreciate feedback and tips, so we can keep that list as up to date as possible.

  2. :microphone: The shownotes for the great podcast that @Tom_B and @spaghetti_westerns are churning out every Friday 12pm PST are being continuously updated and extended to give you a well rounded podcast archive. While there was no episode during the holidays, the podcast as already kicked back into gear for 2021.

  3. :funeral_urn: The end of the year saw a few sad passings, @Tom_B had to update the boot hill cemetery with 10 new obituaries and at the beginning of this month we lost John Richardson and Antonio Sabato Sr.

  4. :balance_scale: There were almost no new reviews or articles posted in December, I guess everyone took a deep breath. @Divy however took an in depth look at DUCK YOU SUCKER:

Many thanks to all and everyone who contributed this month, in the SWDb proper, here in the forums, everyone who has emailed us, shared our posts on social media, listened in on the podcast or donated a few bucks our way. See you next month with a roundup of updates. We wish you the happiest new year and hope you check in regularly, discuss, spread the word and contribute.
