Stanley Tucci's "Tucci in Italy" series

There’s this TV series on National Geographic called ‘Tucci in Italy’ where Stanley Tucci explores regions of Italy and samples the cuisine. The latest edition had him visiting a remote restaurant, high on a mountain plateau at Campo Imperatore in Abruzzo. The restaurant is actually a building made as a bar for the filming of ‘They Call me Trinity’ (‘Lo chiamavano Trinità’ 1970) one of the Terence Hill and Bud Spencer comedy SW. When the filming was completed the building was supposed to be demolished but a local farmer bought it and it’s now called Ristoro Mucciante and is frequented mostly by

motorcyclists who ride up there to eat whilst experiencing the panoramic views.

That’s so cool to learn

I don’t remember this in either of the ‘Trinity’ films … but a quick look online shows that it was used as a set for the Franco Nero thriller, ‘Autostop Sangriento’ aka ‘Hitch-hike’ (1977) … perhaps the ‘Trinity’ connection just sounds better for the tourists.

PS: The actual location was used at the beginning of the 2nd Trinity film … but I don’t think there were any sets built at that time for this particular film.

We should investigate further, for our locations guide(s)

I’ve seen many TV holiday shows making claims about ties with filming locations, in order to attract tourism … For years people were telling me that the Canary Islands were the location for the 1968 ‘Planet of the Apes’, … but in reality were the locations for the opening scenes of ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’, and, ‘One Million Years BC’

As this info is much easier to check up on these days, the ‘journalists’ really should do 2 minutes research before hand.
