Shootout vs Duel

But then there wouldn’t be a scene where he throws his sheriff star in disgust, showing that he despises those cowardly town people. And i like that scene

Exactly.

Couldn’t agree more.

This brings up an angle which is a bit different… with Keoma, and many of my favorites, there are focused scenes of each time Keoma shoots somebody. Its not like a bunch of dudes hiding, and then getting shot and falling off the roof, etc… This is the kind of “shootout” I like… other examples include Apocalypse Joe, Fistful of Lead

The shootouts that consist of our main guy, hiding behind something, and a bunch of baddies also hiding, and they all just peek out periodically and shoot- maybe run to a different spot to hide… that shit drives me crazy

So you love shootouts like in “Arizone Colt returns”. It should drive you insane

Massacre Time has the type of great shootout you like. As well as I. So does The Specialist, Mannaja, and Sabata. etc.

I’ve been putting that one off because of its reputation… now its going to be even lower in my to view list…

I’ve been interested in that one. Mostly because I like Steffen’s kill routine. And his hat.

It’s no surprise that the majority here prefer the duel. Shootouts & action can be found in lots of other genre’s but the duel (withe the exception of Hong Kong cinema) is unique to sw’s.

But you have it also in many US westerns. And also often made damn good.

But the americans didn’t celebrate it that much.

And the SWs also end much too often in amateurish lookong mass shoot-outs.

I think most of them are really tiring. Where do those villains get all that cannon fodder? One dollar each at your local saloon?

And why would one man have sooo many henchmen? (cough) FAJARDO!!

You’re richt korano. Eventually the baddie has to take business in his own hands!

The lazy bastard!!

He actually is one. That’s why he tends to lose these duels.

But never enough for a real SW mass shoot out. So their henchmen always got shot 2 or 3 times. At minimum!

I wish I had some henchmen

Don’t get to close to them though as they’ll probably end up getting killed anyway!

Who knows, maybe soemthing like in Requiescant will happen.

In the duels defense, if the movie is strucured, paced, filmed, toned right, a duel is the perfect way to end the film. But in my experiences, only Leone is capable of this.
