I’ve been contemplating getting the blu-ray…I think I will now. I always considered it kind of Horror/Kung Fu… The creepy soundtrack and gruesome killings. The villans also seem like something out of a horror movie. Speaking of which, a blu-ray of Human Lanterns would be nice. Also on that note, has anyone seen Bloody Parrot?
Bloody Parrot is pretty good, definately worth picking up
It’s not always about the amount of fights though (even though loads of fights are great )
Have you see THE MASTER STRIKES BACK with Ti Lung? Not that many fights but what a powerful film.
master strike’s back? no maybe some day…
five element ninja also deserve a blue ray release
the end it’s 24 minutes kung fu!!!
master strike’s back? no maybe some day…
Great stuff, the authorities take Ti Lung’s son and turn him into a eunuch to work in the palace and he goes on the rampage to revenge what they’ve done.
Sartana 1968, have you seen Delightful Forest? Dont let the title fool you its really good!

Makes the most out of using the score to Once upon a time in the West too ;D

water margin was one of the worst kung fu i ever seen!
if i remember right was and the villain from five element ninjas inside also
Watched Valley of the Fangs last night with Lo Lieh in hero mode.
Not one of the best Shaws but kept me amused and the direction was distinctively different to much of what I have seen before. A bit choppy in places but you could see an effort was being made to make it a little more visually effective and unique.
The English dub was pretty awful though. :-[
Good news… Magnificent Ruffians and Avenging Eagle, two of my favorite SBs, are coming in September At least Avenging Eagle says it also has English Dub…

Nope just DVD… I’m sure you already have them Yod. Avenging Eagle would be a top pick for a blu-ray release though! Magnificent Ruffians better have English audio. Theyve done a few Region 1 releases without English dub (which makes no sense to me) If they do Ill just buy the bootleg Ive been avoiding (already available on Amazon)

Yeah I’ve got them already, got the H.K. IVL releases. I prefer to watch them subtitled to be honest but don’t mind watching a dub.
Sometimes a dub has to be viewed because some of my friends refuse to watch subtitled stuff though. ;D
I’m just hoping some more Shaw stuff gets released that hasn’t made it onto dvd yet. There’s about another 400 or so that haven’t been released on disc.
I dont mind the subs but my gf doesn’t like KF movies (or SWs for that matter) so I usually wind up watching a lot of movies late at night and I dont feel like reading… I dont know about the UK, but most of the people buying KF movies in the states would definitely prefer dubbed… Mostly not the most “cultured” market… Yes there are still quite a few SBs that need a blu-ray or even DVD release: To Kill a Mastermind, Thunderclap and Tiger Boy to name a few… Secret Service of the Imperial Court is another one that comes to mind…Its OOP.
I just watched “Vengeance” & was quite surprised with it. I loved the cutting to the Beijing opera during Ti Lung’s battle. The closing curtain I thought was a more emotional end than countless movies where characters meet their tragic demise. I thought that David Chiang was better than usual but I wonder if it would have worked better if Ti Lung & him had switched roles. Quite a different turn from Chang Cheh but enjoyable nonetheless.

Just watched “Chinatown Kid” which I haven’t seen in years. I think this is Fu Sheng’s best role, at least the most tolerable for me. I don’t care for his mugging which is kept to a minimum here. Its a morality tale with nice supporting parts for the Venoms. Fu Sheng typically played someone great at Kung Fu but on the dim side (actually I think all of Chang Cheh’s heroes were like that) but here I think it works as he’s playing a bumpkin who’s being used. I wonder if the HK cars were as obvious to Hong Kong audience back then
Next up I’ll be watching “Lion vs Lion”.
What version of Chinatown Kid did you watch? There are various edits of the film.
It was the Celestial DVD but there were some jarring cuts in it.
