RIP Paul Naschy

Horror Film legend Paul Naschy died today in Madrid of cancer. Naschy under the name Jacinto Molina appeared in one Eurowestern “The Fury of Johnny Kid” with Peter Lee Lawrence. A full obit will appear later in Cemetery With Crosses. What a terrible week already to begin the holiday season. :’(

It’s been a bad one alright.
RIP Paul.

That’ sad, guys.

Bad indeed. RIP :’(.

One of my friends will be gutted by this news.

No way!! It’s shame when people from this great age of cinema die… I hate to say it, but most of them are either already dead of getting close.

That’s really sad :’(.

That is very sad news for us fans. Fortunately, he kept working as long as he could and there are a couple of new fims in the can. Lets hope for english friendly releases.

Yep, it’s a sad fact.

RIP Mr Naschy, wasn’t very familiar with his films but it’s sad to see anyone go…

What are your favorite films from Naschy?

I like Werewolf Shadow, Night of the Werewolf, and Curse of the Devil. Haven’t seen Hunchback of Rue Morgue yet though, I think the DVD is coming out next year.

Me personally, I like most Naschy flicks I’ve seen! Alright, “Fury of the Wolfman” is terrible and others aren’ t that good (Vengeance of the Zombies is a little out there, haha,) but I still like 'em all! The best in my opinion is Human Beasts which is pretty different than the rest. I think I’ll have to watch that one again soon.

I responded to the RIP thread but I wanted to add my thoughts to this one as well.

I loved the movies of Mr. Naschy. His portrayal of the curse Waldemar Daninsky was absolutely one of the best characters on screen. Curse of the Devil is one of my all time favorite horror films and I prefer it to most of the highly regarded werewolf movies. It was impressive how active he remained and hearing he had cancer shocked me. I was in Madrid only 3 weeks before his passing. I wished I could have met him at one of the conventions that he appeared at but it wasn’t meant to be. RIP Paul you are one of the all time greats. :frowning:
