RIP Chris Howland

The most famous Englishman on German television actor Chris Howland died on November 30 at his home in Rösrath near Cologne, Germany. He was 85. Howland came to Germany from England in 1946 where he worked in radio as an announcer for the British Army. He had a large following among the German listeners and was given his own radio show on NWDR radio and soon became known by the nickname “Mr. Pumpernickel”. Chris appeared in three Euro-westerns: “Apache Gold” (1963), “Legacy of the Incas” (1965) and “Blood at Sundown”.
