Removing scratches from cam-corder lens

I’ve just discovered a scratch on the lens of my Sony camcorder, the same one I used in Almeria last year, and it was fine then - brand-new in fact. It clearly shows up on the images when I playback on a TV monitor…
I’ve tried cleaning it with cleaning fluid, and someone suggested rubbing a small amount of toothpaste on it, and slowly removing it with cotton wool. This didn’t make the situation worse, but it didn’t help, either…
I’m needing to use the camcorder for my Almeria return trip next year to the S.W. locations…does anyone have any suggestions as to how to remove scratches from lens, or do they think I’ll have to get the whole lens replaced?? Any advice very welcome…
Cheers, Amigos, Toscano.

Thank you, Ennioo… No, it doesn’t look too good, but I’ take my camcorder to one or two places in my local area, and see if they can also offer advice - who knows? maybe I’ll get lucky!
Many thanks for the link!
Cheers, Toscano.

Good luck Toscano :).
