Hello friends. I remember watching a western where some bandits raided a ranch. It was a ranch with servants. In fact, I remember them raping and murdering a Black maid. I remember the family child hiding and watching everything. For years, I thought Lionel Staner or Ernest Borgnine were in it, but I’ve looked through their films and can’t find what I’m looking for. I fell asleep and couldn’t see what happened to the child. I’d say it was a 1970s movie, and it didn’t seem North American. Maybe it was European or South American. I know it’s difficult. Thanks in advance
This description seems to have elements in it from ‘Death Rides a Horse’; ‘Once Upon A time in the West’; and ‘Big Jake’…
Top specific for thesw, with the rape etcs
Yes - Death Rides a Horse is the one with the child watching a raid on a ranch in which his family is murdered but no servants and no black maid. Big Jake has the raid on the ranch with servants but no black maid murdered and the boy is kidnapped rather than hiding.
A black maid is raped in the American exploitation western The Scavengers (1969) but that occurs in a saloon at the hands of Confederate soldiers. No ranch or child.
I’ve reviewed the scene from Death Rides a Horse. It’s similar, but not the movie I’m looking for. But good try
I went to look, but in my movie they weren’t Confederate soldiers, but bandits.
Hannie Caulder also comes to mind
They were Confederates - their leader tells a hilarious anecdote about how his family were eaten by freed slavers - but the war may have been just over (like in A Time for Killing).
