Luminous DVD-R

How’re the Luminous DVD-Rs? Is the quality any good? Im thinking of buying God Forgives I don’t and probably Shango.

Variable quality. some of them are good and some are bad. I haven’t seen their Shango or God Forgives…

I bought Adios Sabata from them many moons ago and the last 20 minutes was missing! I’ve heard of a few others having the same problem with that DVD-R. Don’t know if that’s typical of the quality of all their DVD-R’s.

Sounds like when they could be bothered you may get perhaps an O.K product, and when they are not no chance!

Same thing with their Last Chance disc. It’s missing the last 15 minutes. My Adios Sabata disc was ok though but I believe they had two different versions. My disc is fullscreen and fine.

I was wondering: is a luminous dvd-r version of ‘get mean’ any good?

I believe i have it but I can’t check the quality because I can’t find the damn disc anywhere! :frowning:

After reading this, i decided to do a quick rundown of the Luminous DVD-R’s i have, of which GET MEAN is one. I was also curious to see if any of them cut off short, as i haven’t watched most of them yet.

THE BALLAD OF DJANGO (1971) Fidani
81 mins. @ 1.78 Eng. audio/ foriegn subs some reception problems during the opening credits, but then the picture settles in to a solid B-

DJANGO AND SARTANA’S SHOWDOWN IN THE WEST (1970) Fidani
83 mins. @1.78 Eng. audio/foriegn subs picture quality C ghosting throughout.

GET MEAN (1975) Baldi
85 mins. @1.78 Eng audio/foriegn subs picture quality B

LONG LIVE YOUR DEATH (1971) Tessari
96 mins. @1.85 Eng. audio picture quality A

ONE DAMNED DAY AT DAWN… DJANGO MEETS SARTANA (1971) Fidani
82 mins. @1.78 Eng. audio/foriegn subs picture quality B-

THE SPECIALISTS (1969) Corbucci
99 mins. @1.85 Ital. audio/Eng subs picture quality A

THEY CALL HIM CEMETARY (1971) Carnimeo
90 mins. @1.85 Ital. audio/Eng. subs picture quality A

THE WHITE, THE YELLOW AND THE BLACK (1974) Corbucci
102 mins. titled SAMURAI and though the cover says widescreen, it hardly is. There is a black bar that appears sometimes on the top that is very thin and isn’t even there all the time. Eng.audio/foriegn subs picture quality C+

They all have end credits, so they don’t seem to be cut off. I just chapter skipped through them so there could be glitches i did not see. I’m no expert on aspect ratio’s, so if i’m off please don’t shoot me. Picture quality is my opinion, so if you disagree, once again please don’t shoot me. The time’s are according to my NTSC JVC player, if it is wrong, please don’t shoot it. All in all, for $10 each, i’m pretty satisfied with what i have.

Avoid Luminous at all costs. There are far better DVDR vendors available on the internet. There customer service is unresponsive and they don’t say any details about there products. They don’t deserve your business.

My as well just get anything Luminous offers via trade, no sense in paying for it…

Yeah, they suck. I got DVD-R instead of Wild East disc i ordered once and never got any response to my e-mails. Agreed - avoid at all costs

Why buy a dvd-r when you can buy the official and way better thing (God Forgives I Don’t).
Besides that, people shouldn’t pay for crappy dvd-r’s, but that’s just my opinion. There are torrent sites, you know…
But apparently people are either suckers, too damn lazy or have too much money. I think I’ll buy a dvd recorder and put all my rare vhs crap on dvd-r and charge $15, sounds like a good business!

I don’t have a DVD burner, so i don’t trade. All in all i’m happy with what i gotten from them in the last year, other than THE WHITE, THE YELLOW AND THE BLACK, everything was as described.

Was it a copy of the WE disc or just some VHS versions like the rest of their stuff? That’s pretty crappy if they’re selling copies of legitimate releases.

I’m fine with them selling the rare stuff that’s hard to find… its nice to be able to get it somewhere if it cant be found anywhere else, although I do agree the prices are too high for the product. But I don’t see why they’re selling titles that already have good releases, and if they’re selling copies of the good releases that’s even worse…

I ordered Wild East release of the 1st Sartana movie and recieved some shitty VHS-rip version on DVDR

Bastardos

Yes I remember you posted about this before. I know that luminous carried both the wildeast Sartana, as well as their own DVDR version. Could it be that you accidently ordered the wrong one?

Not trying to defend luminous here but sometimes these mixups can happen when ordering similar products.

For example I once ordered Little women (1936) as a mothers day present but accidently ordered Little women (1949) instead.

I don’t think it was possible, Wild East’s version look completly different than this DVDr one. I’m afraid they mixed them up and i think they confirmed it by not answering my emails…

And they didn’t have the same price I suppose?

To be honest i don’t remeber
