I’m working on many of the pictures, it’s really fun!

I’m adding new pictures and replacing a few. I also copy some of the existing pictures and resize and/or sharpen the image a little, which means I have to upload them again. So maybe Seb should delete some of the pictures that are no longer in use?

I want it to look as beautiful as possible! I also think we should get rid of the pictures that have a small address or something printed on them, you must know what I mean?

This doesn’t look so good, and I think I have enough clean pictures so that we won’t need them.

Also I don’t think the Japanese posters look so beautiful with all the Asian letters, what do you think? If it’s ok with you I would rather remove them and have only European posters!

I have also created a new page ā€œVideo Coversā€ for some of the films, since they had such covers on their picture-pages, would be fun to put in more covers there, in reasonable sizes!

I know people who love the Japanese posters, then others like you say do not like the big style letters.

An acquired taste perhaps ?

i like the japanese posters a lot

I have nothing against the Japanese letters, I just think it looks a little stupid on a western-movie poster!

If it was a kung fu-movie it would look great

And also they don’t look so vintage, are they from the 60s or what?

They have a more modern feel to them than the European ones!

Keep up the good work, Silvanito !!! I would suggest you put the pictures you’re replacing into the picture section so they won’t be lost (except it’s exactly the same picture with less quality) ! Concerning the ā€˜address’ and ā€˜printed on’ pictures I completely agree as long as there’s a version without anything written on it that doesn’t belong there.

I like the japanese posters very much, I think we should use (put) them in the picture sections of each movie !??!

Great idea !!! I have a lot of video covers to put there ! I think just not in reasonable sizes :frowning: [have a look at ā€˜Black Jack’ and ā€˜Keoma’]! How can I make 'em smaller ??? I don’t know anything about things like that !!!

I would suggest you put the pictures you're replacing into the picture section so they won't be lost (except it's exactly the same picture with less quality) !

Yes I put most of the pictures I’m replacing into the pic. section of each film, except the really bad ones! After all we don’t need every single picture that is available!

Regarding reasonable sizes for pictures/covers, you’ll need an image editing-programme, I use Irfan View, you can download it for free here:

What about this suggestion?
For Spaghettis a classic image Italian poster on the film page, alternative Italian as well as other all countries posters on the pictures section of that film page.
For non Italian Eurowesterns a classic image Country Of Origin poster on the film page, all others on the pictures section of that film page.

I’d agree !!! That’s the way I think it’s supposed to be !!!

Seb, do you want me to put all the pictures I remove on a special page, so that they are easily found when deleting them?

Or is this not necessary, you see clearly which pictures anyway?

in special pages there’s a section unused files… if that’s what u mean… but i think we need all pictures we can get. but if you find a better quality version, we can delete the bad quality file

Ok so the pictures I remove end up there.

I mean I modify most of the pictures, make them smaller and sharper, and then I upload them again.

I don’t work on the really bad ones and the ones with something printed on them, I just remove them.

And of course I upload a lot of new pictures also!

they don’t have to be smaller necessary. you can post large pictures and have the website show them smaller, like

[[Image:Picture.jpg|250px]] shows a picture only 250 pixels wide

Ok, but don’t they still take up unnecessary space?

don’t worry about space, mate

Believe me, I understand what you are trying to say. I really do! But, as an American who grew up with Westerns all around him…it seems odd, sometimes, to see Western posters with Italian and German lettering on them, too! Even though I am well aware that these films originated from European countries!
Ha ha!

Frankly, I love the Japanese posters with the Japanese lettering. They are absolutely beautiful! And, yes, they are vintage posters (many of the Spaghetti Westerns were released in Japan before they came out in the USA or other countries). They are great examples of just how ā€œmodernā€ Japanese poster artwork was back in the 50’s and 60’s.

The Spaghetti Western posters I do not care for, at all, are the ones from Thailand! I know some folks think they are pretty cool…but, I think they sport some of the most atrocious artwork on the face of the earth! The lettering doesn’t bother me, at all…but the images sure do.

But, of course, this is all simply a matter of opinion.

I’ve been working my way through loading a whole lot of english titles in the international titles section and it struck me that we should have a page for alternate italian titles. Sounds daft I know but actually there are a fair number of films which are listed under a spanish title for example, (presumably because it was a spanish co production and this was the original title of its release) so the italian title is not listed anywhere.
Here’s an example:
Awkward Hands (english title) is listed as Manos Torpes (spanish title). Therefore if someone was looking for it by its italian title (Quando Satana Impugna la Colt) they’d have real trouble unless they knew what they were looking for.
Does this make sense or am I rambling?
