What are you doing if you need to fart but you have to avoid it under all circumstances? The only way is Arschbacken zusammenkneifen.

Literally it would mean something to do what you don’t want to do but you have to do it. A common phrase is like that: Da musst du die Arschbacken zusammenkneifen und durch! Hopefully this helps :slight_smile:

Thanks, I had figured out that was more or less the meaning
The problem was of course that ‘arschbacken’ wasn’t in the dictionary and that Google mainly linked me to XXX-sites (see above)
Anyway, this is the place to be if you want to learn some unconventonal German!
(I’ll never forget the expression)
