Killer, adios is one of very very few for me new SWs , the last 2 years.
I found it fairly entertaining to watch the whole film, but these Whodunnit ? SWs donāt quite give me the right feeling. I liked the Peter Lee Lawrence (born as Karl Hyrenbach) character much better in Awqward Hands where he was a young innocent guy transforming into an determined avenging antihero.
In this SW he is a rather one-dimensional character. The true killer was not so believable but was suspected by me anyhow.
For once, Rosalba Neri was not styled to her advantage.
The music was not in good SW style.
5/10 rating from me.
Itās pretty much a remake of Killer Calibre 32. I think Lawrence even wears the same clothes.
It appears to be styled on a German Edgar Wallace krimi. These usually featured a mysterious killer offing the cast with a gimmicky weapon (harpoon gun, teeth from a venomous snake) and the killer was usually the friendly face who served no obvious narrative purpose.
I also noticed the similarities to the ākrimiā films when I watched it somewhat recently for spagvember. Glad to see Iām not the only one who saw the parallels.
Credits page has been created for Winchester, uno entre mil (Killer, Adios)
Just concluded Killer, Adios. This was my first Peter Lee Lawrence flick and I must say the guy was (as others have stated), very slick and looked fantastic - extremely smart and well dressed. The same goes for Sheila (Marisa Solinas), they stole the show.
Overall, I didnāt think it was the best SW. The story felt a little all over the place and convoluted at times, few too many characters involved too. Didnāt hate the detective āWho Dunnitā aspect, I just donāt think they pulled it off too well.
It gets a 5/10 from me. Iāll be watching Killer Calibre 32 as soon as possible and digging into Peter Lee Lawrence too as Iāve just found out that he died tragically young.
Edit - oh and the dubbing was so so bad on the YouTube version I watched. Even for our usual standards!
Try Killer Calibre 32 which features a similar character and was made before this.
If you can check out The Fury of Johnny Kiddā¦thatās my favourite out of Lawrenceās films that Iāve seen.
Wasnāt a lover of that one. Still havenāt seen this one because Iād been led to believe they were similar films.
PLL riding on the train and jumping off was a little bit cool, but after this I watched the rest of the film in fast-forward 8x speed.
interesting that three of the cast members appeared later as lunatics in another PLL Western (una colt per cento bare/a gun for hundred graves, Umberto Lenzi). Eduardo Fajardo, the accountant and the friendly old man who died later (forget his name).
