Kill and Pray / Requiescant (Carlo Lizzani, 1967)

That top poster…

I didn’t know John Travolta was in this film.

I watched a new spanishlabeled (single disq) Bluray (with English sound and subtitles) yesterday with a rather promising first half, but then the image froze over and over near the same spot suggesting something wrong with the disc, since another seemed OK .
The product looks professional but I find no producer name. My wife tried to clean the disq but with no success so far. I guess I will have to buy a new one from another seller, since it seemed interesting.

A lot of those Spanish blu-rays are bootlegs of questionable quality. I would advise just getting the Arrow release if you can find it at a good price.

Thanks SĆøren, funny that it could be so ā€œreal lookingā€.
As a matter of fact I just a few minutes ago before I saw your post DID order the Arrow release 2 discs (1 bluray and 1 DVD). Rather expensive (over 600 SEK or around USD 65 including rapid shipping)
But then I propably can have one disc here in Spain and one in Sweden !

Oooops!

It’s selling for Ā£10.55 … that’s about 12 Euro or $13 USD

Hope you can cancel your order ?

Hmm, but it states only Italian as language but that might be wrong since it also states " * Subtitles For The Hearing Impaired: English" which should be applicable to English spoken films.

Well, I live on stock market speculation, so I either will be broke or rich anyhow

As a matter of fact that is the Spanish blu-ray that is selling for £10.55

My mistake ! … it’s very misleading the way the page is set up.

Yep. Amazon has always been a mess this way. Several different releases of the same movie intertwined and the reviews likewise.

But Amazon.com can at least be rapid. Delivered from USA sold by Amazon Export Sales LLC yesterday the package is now scheduled to arrive to me in Spain tomorrow May 2 according to a SMS this morning ! That is impressing ! Shipping cost around USD 15. So we can (hopefully) restart watching Requiescant at 56-57 minutes with a fresh memory tomorrow of the first half

Now I have viewed the second half also and Requiscant seems well worth viewing again, even if the mexican revolution theme does not appeal to me nor the to that connected music type. But it is rather original, well played and entertaining. I will most likely rank it as 6 or 7 of 10.

I’m about the same for both this and The Hills Run Red. I like them both but Bandits of Milan is my favourite Lizzani film by some way.

After having watched it 2 times I think it is worth a weak 7 out of 10. Here I think Mark Damon is good as the claimed aristrocat and main bad guy.

Another new review on the rebooted blog site.

The more times I watch this film the more I appreciate Mark Damon’s role.

Perhaps I’m wrong, but, did Mark Damon under-estimate himself, as an actor?

During the ā€˜Spaghetti Western Festival’ interviews, (ā€˜El Rojo’ DVD), he seemed more comfortable talking about his recent times, now, as a producer, than as his time as an actor…

Maybe I’m wrong in my perception, but it was as if he was seeking approval from the audience, that they had just enjoyed watching the large screen viewing of ā€˜Dead men Don’t Count’…(Damon & Anthony Steffen).

In ā€˜Johnny Yuma’ I thought he was particularly good…and his characters always had an affable side to them, even if their human nature was dubious - to say the least…

I think you may be right. I also think the fact his acting career was strictly in B films has something to do with it. Whereas his career as producer was much more at ā€œthe grown ups tableā€.

It’s a pity because I think he is often good value. Never more than in Requiescant although, like you, I’m also a big fan of Johnny Yuma

You could be right there…

I must confess, I still enjoy his performance, as the estranged lover, in Roger Corman’s ā€˜House of Usher’ (1960).

And in Mario Bava’s ā€˜Black Sabbath’…

House of Usher is still a horror classic that has never been topped by its remakes.

This movie’s page in the SWDb has been upgraded to the new ā€œSWDb 3.0ā€ format.
Please have a look and let us know if there’s something you can add (information, trivia, links, pictures, etc.).
For example, we have no info on any VHS releases.

First post in the thread updated with poll and poster pic. :+1:
