Italian Crime Films

Can’t wait to see Gang War in Milan. Strangely, it seems to be very much 60s style but it was made in 73.

I also have become a fan of Italian Crime movies along with SW.

You gyes seen ‘Ricco the mean machine’-?

Aside from all the sleaze, gore and nudity it’s a horrible movie, IMO. Barbara Bouchet was the best thing about this one.

Wild East has announced a new “Euro Crime” double feature:

Confessions of a Police Captain is already out from Koch Media in a simply gorgeous version… But with only German subs to the Italian dub. My favourite Italian crime movie by the way.

Summertime Killer has had a number of releases already. Don’t know if any of them has been complete though.

Finally, 4 years after their first Euro-Crime release. I like Summertime Killer… though I have an ugly print of it, and haven’t seen Confessions of a Police Captain… hope they jump ahead with this one.

About time for a decent version of Confessions of a Police Captain with an english dub.

Well, i have the Thai, German Japanese and Spanish versions :-[ The Spanish one appears to be uncut whilst the others are all the same shorter version even though the Thai/Japan versions claimed to be uncut. It’s mostly character development stuff…unfortunately no English. Hopefully WE will have found an English track for the longer version.

I’ve been really enjoying these Polizio’s.

Just watched Convoy Busters which was pretty mediocre. But all these films are sooo entertaining. Napoli Spara especially.

Have you seen Colt 38 Special Squad or Rome Armed To The Teeth?

Rome Armed to the Teeth is on my watch list (in preparation for any exploration into another genre, I keep a recommendation list on Microsoft Word.)

My favorite Polizio is probably Fulci’s Contraband. Probably for reasons like this…

Yeah the Lenzi/Merli films are amazing, must watch the big 3… The Cynic the Rat and the Fist, Rome Armed to the Teeth, Violent Naples

Already watched Cynic. Next up on my watch list is Emergency Squad and possibly CrimeBusters. Anybody seen em’?

Yep, I thought Emergency Squad was alright, a bit dull and boring.

Gorio Fulci ;).

[/quote]fulci’s " Contraband" aka “The Smuggler” is a good movie, one of his best.

Agrred. His horror movies (the 3 I’ve seen, are all really bad movies. Just watched House by the Cemetery and it was almost comically bad). Fulci is good at a build up to an eventbut completely spoils it with his overly done gore. He goes way too far.

I agree, gore can spoil films that’s for sure! Especially todays horror films.

Agreed. ;D

But Fulci especially, when he gets to the gore, he focuses on it for too long and it just gets reallly obvious that he’s just exploiting the violence.

In House by the Cemetery, a woman is dragged down the stairs, chin hitting every step down. I was actually laughing here. What is this? Tom and Jerry?

My biggest complaint about Fulci is his movies don’t make alot of sense plotwise. Although you are probably going to wonder what the hell am I doing thinking about plot in these types of films…still.

Great visuals in his films though, good ideas, and the ability to make a movie seem higher budget than it actually is.

No it’s Itchy and Scratchy!

;D
