If You Love Sartana, Vote For Your Death!

Haha seriously I am just annoyed that “If You Meet Sartana, Pray For Your Death” (The first one) has been rated only 5.6 by a mere 73 IMDB voters. This is the lowest rating out of all the Sartana movies. I don’t think one of the most popular, talked about, and influencial SW’s of all time should be rated so low by so few. I think this movie deserves at least a 6. 2 and should have well over 100 voters. Some lesser known movies even have more votes than Sartana.

That is why I would like to start a Sartana voting compaign. I urge all members of this forum who enjoyed the first Sartana movie to register or log on to imdb.com and give the movie a 10 out of 10 rating. Hopefully together we can raise the average rating to a level that more accurately evaluates the greatness of this classic SW. This movie is obviously not on par with the Leone movies, but its a classic SW nevertheless and deserves more support on imdb.

It won’t help if everybody will register just to vote for this particular movie because only votes of so called regular voters [the ones that cast more votes and not only ‘1’ and ‘10’ ones] count on imdb.

This is only true for voting for the top 250 movies of all time as well as the top 50 in each category. In this case, only the votes of “regular voters” count.

However, Sartana will probably never qualify for a spot in the top 50 all time westerns list anyway. Also all votes DO count towards an individual films final ratings.

I do care. Imdb is the definitive website for movies. Sartana is a great movie and deserves higher than 5.6. My campaign continues Amigos!..

Yes but definitely not for spaghetti westerns. I’m with Bill on this one, imdb is great for the ‘big’ movies but for genre-movies like the Sartana ones it’s really not the place. People interested in the spaghetti western genre should come here instead.

And the ratings on imdb should always be taken with a grain of salt.

Although I have to admit that imdb top250 isn’t all that bad -they have 2 Leone westerns in top20!

Like our Frank Wolff impersonator I don’t care much for IMdb ratings.
Let me tell you a story …
I never liked the TV series DEADWOOD and wondered why so many people did. So I started reading those comments on IMdb and found out that quite a lot of them were negative. So I suppose there was an organized crime to influence the rating of the series. It’s easy to do and it’s done all the time for programs like “Idol”. So no, dear friend, I do NOT trust those ratings and I do NOT care much for them.
But SE INCONTRI SARTANA … PREGA PER LA TUA MORTE is an excellent spaghetti, so I’ll give it an 8 tonight.

Mr Challenge that was very industrious of you to post such a detailed IMDB SW list(s)).

Your idea and campaign to boost the SARTANA classic film ratings is a GOOD IDEA.

I am sorry you had some negative/unhelpful replies but you can COUNT ON ME.

I am fully registered on IMDB and a regular voter and I was giving SARTANA 10 anyway.

We must at all times FIGHT CHALLENGE and SEEK CHANGE when we spot unfair reviews

I"m just appalled how such a classic movie slips through the cracks of imdb voters. Every bit helps. This is one way in which I show my support and love for SW’s.

Sorry, can’t take part in the campaign because I already gave the movie 10 out of 10 before I knew about it! I was also annoyed by the low rating and the idea that some people can take it seriously and never bother to see Parolini’s western - this is the kind of cult movie that even the cult movie books rarely talk about, let alone mainstream film guides. Well, maybe my rating could have been 9 or 8 but I love the film and it glides in and out of my SW top ten that’s never permanently fixed…

What I don’t understand is why this movie has the lowest rating out of all the Sartana movies, even though it is widely regarded as the best in the series.

I realize the Sartana series isn’t everybody’s cup of tea but the first movie is too classic to be rated only 5.7. Especially when Angel of Death is rated 6.8!

I’m not sure, but maybe most people who voted are more fond of the comedy SWs. Today most fans like their SWs tough and violent, but in the seventies, when those films were popular among filmgoers, it was the other way around. With shooting organs, sewing machines etc. Carnimeo’s Sartanas play of more or less like comedies, while Parolini’s film, although not without ironic touches, still looks very violent; several gangs of outlaws are wiped out before the film really gets started!
