Those are the best charity shop moments. Makes the regular trawling through tat worthwhile ![]()
This was a mistake purchase. I failed to notice that there was no regular Blu-ray included, and I don’t have a 4K-player…
Just bought this Robert Hossein 3 pack.
Funny, I had a copy of Taste of Violence and it was glitching - I noticed finger prints on the disc and cleaned it with kitchen roll rather than Kleenex tissue - too rough as it destroyed the dvd!
Finger prints and stains etc can be removed with fairy liquid and lukewarm water - plenty of washing up liquid, rub away any marks then rinse with water and dry with something soft, like an old cotton T-shirt.
It won’t fix any deep scores or scratches but is great for superficial stuff.

Although I am a collector, I also resell discs I find at sales. The best tool I’ve found for cleaning is a professional camera lens cleaning cloth. I also use a very sensitive camera lens cleaning solution to avoid harsh chemicals being exposed to discs, but simply using water can work fine for a lot of superficial stuff.
The method I use takes about a minute or two to complete, and the disc is ready to go - It removes fingerprints, essentially grease, and those weird little white patches of misty damp that can develop, causing the disc to skip or pause.
Most 2nd hand discs I’ve bought over the years have been fine, and played well, but you do get the occasional one that causes problems - Children’s films are usually in the worst condition, as the little twerps have no sense of pride in ownership -

Thanks Aldo - didn’t think liquid could be used on a dvd. Just like cleaning glasses lens!
I’ve seen some videos on youtube that suggest using isopropyl alcohol and even toothpaste !
Haven’t tried either of those methods … as I think isopropyl alcohol might be too strong and damage the disc surface … and toothpaste seems too messy ?
As I mentioned, the liquid is only on the disc for a very brief time, and then dried immediately … it has worked for me dozens of times. You could experiment with non important discs, say from a charity shop, and see what works best for you.

I’ve just pre-ordered the Severin 4K of ‘Razor Blade Smile’, the 1998 British vampire film written and directed by my old pal Jake West. Although I’m not in the film a lot of my friends from the old Vampyre Society are and I did make contributions to the documentary ‘Children Of The Night’ that Jake made in 2000 where I appear along with Ingrid Pitt and Fenella Fielding and that’s one of the bonus features. I’m glad the documentary is on it as all I’ve got is ropey old copies transferred from VHS.
Just bought these in the ‘Amazon UK’ 2 blurays for £15 sale…
I have never seen these films, but I’m an ardent admirer of Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune. All I’ve seen up to now, have been their samurai movies.
You are in for a treat Toscano. High and Low maybe my favourite Kurosawa, it’s so effortlessly cool. Stray Dog is fantastic too, a very sweaty movie!
I can not find them in the 2 for £15 sale. Maybe only shows for UK customers? I am in Sweden.
