My pre-ordered copy of ‘The Great Escape’ arrived from ‘Arrow’ today.
To say that I’m happy would be an understatement…I adore this film.
The excellent new extras amount to approx 2 hours RT, and there is also an informative new audio commentary - all of which I am anxious to savour.
The enclosed double-sided poster, and booklet are wonderful. Picture quality is beautiful, and it is refreshing to have the original Mono soundtrack included for the main film.
Also included is ‘The Great Escape 2’, in its 3.06 RT entirety.
Thoroughly recommended if you love this ‘great’ film…
As for myself, I’m settling back with a bottle of wine tonight to indulge in this precious diamond from 1963…a comfort drink to go with comfort food and my ultimate comfort film…
NOTE: The real-life events of Stalag Luft 3 were far from being a comfortable experience…and I think that it is important for viewers of the film to acquaint themselves with the tragic true events. However, that is just in my humble opinion.
It does not detract from the fact that ‘The Great Escape’ film is, however embellished, a well-told tale about heroism in the face of adversity.
