Expensive, yes, but, IMHO a worthwhile and essential buy for all BL fans. Absolutely beautiful to behold, packed with brand new restorations, commentaries, eye-candy art work, and extras that will probably take forever to work through.
What really makes this a must-have, is the ‘Mandarin’ cut of ‘The Big Boss’; plus an exhaustive look at how Bruce’s unfinished project, ‘Game of Death’, may have been eventually presented.
Roll on August, when Bruce’s master-piece, ‘Enter the Dragon’, will be released in a beautiful 4K restoration…
All in all, I’m very happy with this labour of love from the ‘Arrow’ team…a poignant tribute to Bruce Lee, who died 50 years ago, in July 1973.
I was originally planning on picking up a German release of the Italian cut, but learned from Mondo Macabro that the Spanish original is the version to see, but they will include the scenes shot for the Italian version as a special feature
I’m not familiar with the differences between the two versions, but I enjoyed the one on the German disc for all its madness. Giallo plots are often very convoluted or even incomprehensible (for me that’s part of the fun), but this one really takes the cake. A mystery involving twin brothers and other means to confuse identities… it’s really something. I wonder if the Spanish version is easier to follow?
Will probably get this one later down the line as it’s £10 more than the Psycho set despite the same number of 4K discs. Haven’t watched any of them past 3 but 4 seems kind of fun and apparently the workprint version is quite good!
One of the few modern shows I really do enjoy and is quite authentic to the 1920’s period. PBS aired the show here in the States, but they only released it on way overpriced DVDs, so I went with the far better priced UK Blu Rays.

Did they ever release a second edition with an audio track that’s actually usable? I bought it when it came out and it’s really atrocious. For me as a non native English speaker it’s basically impossible to understand what’s being said most of the time. I sent them an email but never heard back.
That said it looks like the one I just got from DeepDiscount is one of the original bad ones. Damn it. Thought they were all replaced long ago. It’s over a year ago the new release came out.
The one I’ve just purchased was released in 2011, and is 229 mins long.
I understand that that another version was later released in 2014 (pictured below), running in at a massive 251 mins.
Both versions, the 229 and 251 min one seem to be hard to get nowadays, so I was pleased enough to get the slighter shorter version the other day.
No denying ‘OUATIA’ is a classic, but there is a scene in it that I find myself fast-forwarding through, because I find it repulsive…but I guess that was Leone’s intention - to show how brutal and disgusting rape is.
Love the direction, music, and acting in it, though.
This Leone epic is not my favourite of his films…I prefer his Westerns; but I’m content with what I now have.
Hi, Dean.
No, Thank God. It was in perfect condition, unlike so many others. I ordered the standard Bluray box-set, rather than the 4K one - so I don’t know if that made any difference…
I feel sorry for the fans who paid out over £100 and got something damaged. I’d have been devastated.
What the hell went wrong with quality control and pristine delivery on ‘Arrow’s’ behalf?
