Great looking sets!

Nice pickups! I’m gonna get me a copy of The Mummy too, my all time favorite Horror film. I missed out on the original UK Blu Ray, but I’m kinda glad now with Second Sight putting out this magnificent set.
Cheapo DVDs from the second-hand market:

50p each. Was ever especially keen on either of them in their day but given how much I enjoyed Starship Troopers the other day I thought I’d give them another go, especially at that price.
Actually enjoyed both of them when I watched them a few years back.
Have become a big Arnie fan in my dotage.
An animated spin on George A. Romero’s iconic zombie film, ‘Night of the Living Dead’…
Plus…the classic 1957 Sidney Lumet court-room drama, that I have always found to be consistently brilliant, thoroughly engaging, and exceedingly well-acted by a first-rate cast …
Yeah, Phil and Asa, I know the feeling…
I have a yearning now in my late 50’s, for things past, and most especially the ‘Eighties’…the time of Stallone and Arnie…At the time, these kind of action ‘shoot the crap out of them’ films were all the rage - but they were the trend-setters for everything that has come after, and been copied tirelessly.
.
Of course both Sly and Arnie (inc. many others such as Van Damme), modelled themselves on our very own Clint, and his anti-hero persona.
Still, for their time (and even now), they provided us with screen heroes that overcame impossible odds, performed questionable feats of daring, and ended the action with an off the cuff ‘Bond-like’ quip.
If you lived through the Eighties, then the action heroes ruled supreme.
Last year I decided to recapture the 80’s by buying all the ‘Terminators’, starring Arnie. Although almost forty years since the first (1984), they brought back many memories - all of which were good.

New DVD sets:

Watching trailers for the upcoming The Munsters movie from Rob Zombie (which everybody is caning but I couldn’t care less; I love The Munsters and I love Rob Zombie) reminded me that I need to get both of these shows. So, I’ve gotten to it. I used to have season 1 of The Munsters on DVD but season 2 was problematic to get ahold of at that point in time and, frustrated that I didn’t have all of it, I got rid.
I love The Munsters too
! I’m disappointed Rob Zombie didn’t include Marilyn and Eddie in his film, but I’m still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Judging from the previews, it looks like this is when they first met so Marilyn and Eddie may not come along until the sequel.
Some acquisitions from some wheeling and dealing over the past few days.
Enzo G. Castellari’s classic that is an upgrade from DVD. I’ve been trying to get this one on bluray for a while but didn’t want to pay a fortune to attain it. I’m very excited about this one.
The German release of The Sweet Body of Deborah from Johnny Yuma and $10,000 for a Massacre director Romolo Guerrieri. Carroll Baker, Jean Sorel, Evelyn Stewart, and George HIlton - I’ve been wanting to see this one for a while.
This will be my first viewing of this one as well. Allegedly, a classic Giallo with George Hilton again.
Another Jess Franco addition, which I’ve seen, with the lovely and tragic Soledad Miranda.
Nice pickups there my friend. I have one of the Mediabook releases of The Sweet Body of Deborah, a very excellent early Giallo in my opinion, and the first pairing of Carroll Baker and Jean Sorel. I’m still waiting for someone to put The Killer Must Kill Again on Blu Ray, I’m hoping 88 Films or Mondo Macabro. Vampyros Lesbos is a visual masterpiece I have to say, the way Franco used lighting and cinematography is something to behold. Soledad Miranda gives a fine performance as the tragic vampire Countess who finds herself feeling very human after seducing the alluring Linda Westinghouse.
