Plenty of viewing there!! You will be singing the theme tunes for weeks!!
Pre-ordered (both due in October):
I’ve never heard of The Deeper You Dig but it appears to come with a copy of The Hatred (Law, 2018), a horror picture set in the wintery Blackfoot territory (Montana, Alberta, Saskatchewan, that sort of area) in the late 1800s. I’ve never seen that one either but I was keen to get a look at it at one point but never quite got around to finding it.
EDIT: I’ve cancelled that The Deeper You Dig preorder. I had been very keen to get a hold of The Hatred when it first surfaced a couple of years ago but, having failed to track it down, I’d not given it much thought for a long time until I saw yesterday that Arrow had tacked it onto another release. In the period since I last thought about it, mrs.caress has taken up Amazon Prime so I decided to look for it last night. Lo and behold, I found it, I watched it, and it was… not good. Some great ideas dotted sparsely around its brief 60min runtime and it shows potential for projects to come but, ultimately, it was very much a micro-budget first attempt at a feature. An experimental project. But not a worthwhile movie in its own right. Oh well.
A single eurospy thingie turned up today:
Geheimauftrag CIA - Agent 077 gegen Istanbul
I nearly bought it yesterday but AMAZON says German language only.
I will find out. The cover and ofdb.de says the English dub is included but if there is anything you can’t trust it’s a German dvd cover
Some companies are worse than others, Wild Coyote is always a gamble for example
Thanks!!
New blu-rays:
I have being meaning to buy this film for years now. The bizarre neo 70s furniture and weird fashion date the film but leaves it ageless…
The saga of hooligan Alex is engaging because his behaviour in the early part of the film is abhorrent but his corrective treatment by the state is equally horrible. I actually felt sorry for him.
The violence in the film is nasty but it is the lack of bloodshed actually makes it more believable and less Hollywood. The randomness and the victims of violence adds to the impact of Alex and the Droogs rampage.
It is essential Kubrick and 1970s viewing.
One of my top favourite films, good purchase!
Only a fiver too!!
Just FYI: The release includes the English, German and French dubs so there should be an option for everyone
Excellent!!
They were never going to top those casts!! What was Branaugh thinking!?
Just managed to get through this one and the English dub changes to French a couple of times in the end. With no subtitles. Had to skip to the German dub at those times. The picture quality isn’t great either. Sharpened way too much and certainly not shows off the dvd media at it’s finest. May look up on a small screen, but on a 65" not so much.
Pre-ordered (due out in October):
Finally arrived!! Very happy to have these classic Eurospy movies. £24 so not cheap. I got it on Amazon Germany which has a small number of titles that I might pick up.
The picture is clear and clean but it is a 55 year old film. The picture is faded. The audio is good mono no defects I can detect.
The Gamera set I pre-ordered in February has arrived.
