I Just Bought … (Non-SW Shopping Diary)

As somebody who has a passing interest in anime, and is considering watching Evangelion, what would I start with? I hear the series is pretty convoluted because there’s a lot of revisions and different releases.

Surely The Last House on the Left hasn’t been released yet? Am still waiting for my Arrow-order to ship

Pre-order. It was also delayed by a few weeks

Great. Thanks  Yes, but they included a soundtrack cd I think so all is not bad  Other than that you seem to have great taste in movies. Have orders hanging around for all three releases as well.

We are a rather esoteric bunch! :+1:

PS. That Boetticher set is amazing ^ I didn’t realise Indicator were this dedicated.

Yeah Indicator is releasing a lot of good stuff. Am waiting for the Boetticher set to ship along with a lot of other stuff from amazon.

As a matter of fact that will make my Indicator-collection complete (again) until later in the month

They caught my eye when they released Happy Birthday to Me a while back. Their Harryhausen sets are very tempting…

I have a region 1 DVD set of these which is very good but I’m still tempted to upgrade to this Bluray set. Think I’ll hold out for a while yet though if I can manage it.

I was wanting that for ages but I was shocked to see Indicator had carried over all the extras. Phew.

Do you know if this new set has any other extras as well as those? (I’m obviously digging for any flimsy reason to buy this set too)

A lovely booklet, new interviews with Frayling and Kim Newman to name a few things :+1: (buy it!)

Start by having a look at Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone. The 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 etc movies are basically a truncated retelling of the series anyway (and the 1.11, 2.22 etc movies are just graphical touch-ups of those movies) so it’ll be the simplest way to get a sample of the Evangelion experience. If you like it, try to hunt down the original series (Neon Genesis Evangelion) on a streaming anime site and then, instead of watching the last two episodes (25 and 26), watch Neon Genesis Evangelion - The End of Evangelion which is essentially a slightly expanded alternate take on those final episodes.

Tbh though there are a fair few anime series I’d watch in front of Neon Genesis Evangelion, as good as it is. if you haven’t done so already I’d watch Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Attack on Titan or Paranoia Agent over NGE all day long. :+1:

Just got the Severin release of Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals

I still need to order that. The 88 version is very barebones.

… and apparently missing almost a whole minute in comparison:

I got the 88 Films-version on my shelf aswell. Notice that the limited Severin-version also comes with the soundtrack cd.

Another lunchtime wander which turned into an impromptu shopping spree

watched Das Taubenhaus today. Better than expected, you just need to sit through the first 50 dull minutes to see some glimpes of art and filmmaking. @Bluntwolf reviewed Paranoia on Nischenkino. Need to get Das Syndikat soon…

I love 12 Angry Men btw…
