Expanding my Kurosawa collection…

(Asa) #2651

I fancy picking up Ikiru myself. I’ve only ever seen period pieces by Kurosawa, none of his contemporary works. That’s an anomaly which badly needs addressing. Many consider Ikiru to be Kurosawa’s finest.

Throne of Blood and Rashōmon are both fantastic.

Throne of Blood[/quote]

I finally watched it yesterday. Definitely my favourite Macbeth adaptation, along with Roman Polanski’s version of course.

New Blu-rays:

Hey! You got some good anime! You should try and nab Akira on Bluray if you don’t have it already.

(Asa) #2655

Brilliant film, Akira, one of my favourites of any genre.

That missing letter in Pennies from Heaven welcomes unwelcome misreadings

(Asa) #2660

It really is “Pennis”:

It’s an old comedy DVD featuring actor/comedian Paul Kaye (Thoros of Myr in Game of Thrones) from back when he performed largely in-character as “Dennis Pennis”, a nerd-chic broadcaster for the BBC who would essentially insult the stars he was interviewing.

(Søren) #2661

Lol. My mistake. Never heard of Dennis Pennis before.

(Farmer_J) #2662

God I loved Dennis. We need him now more than ever, with even more celebrities now, he’d have a whale of a time.
