It’s funny, i’ve been watching horror films since i was akid, though i have to admit i’m not keen on the modern ones and i can’t say i’ve ever seen one that’s actually scared me…disgusted sometimes maybe but not scared…
i agree i’ve never seen one that’s scared me and i’ve seen thousands, a few make me cringe in some scenes, i just love all aspects of horror films from silent to right up to date.a lot are samey especially these days, but westerns ( spaghetti or otherwise ) are also like this but, then again all genres can be accused of this.
I know what you mean. You may not be convolsed in laughter but inside you, you do laugh.
Very stoic.
can anyone confirm or deny if D’Amato’s “Buio Omega” is as bad as its reputation? Trying to decide if I should use caution before subjecting girlfriend to a viewing
The main guy likes to spend quality time with his girlfriend who is now dead, but he has preserved her so to speak. He also likes to pull finger nails off people who are alive with plyers. Plenty more torture and blood in the film.
Are these kind of things your girlfriend may take offence to ?
Haha… I suppose its possible she might
… she already knows i’m a weirdo though and I’ve been progressively introducing more strange films…
Actually she seems to not mind a lot, but I always avoid any of these films that have any animal killings as I know she would not react well
Not mine! ![]()
I didn’t find it shocking, just disgusting… all the gore looks real, theres cannibalism… the acid bath was the worst. It’s not a feel good movie.
On the other hand, she may find the protagonist’s undying affection for his lost love moving and tender, and realise you’re really a sweet guy after all…
haha… that is a clever point Starblack
i think i will go ahead and pop it in the DVD player sometime this week and see how it goes over. can use this one as a measuring stick for other films
I’m spending halloween watching some old school horror. Just finished watching Un angelo per Satana aka Angel for Satan. Anybody who thinks Anthony Steffen can’t act should really check out this film. It might change your mind! Steffen is terrific and has surprisingly good chemistry with Barbara Steele.
Too bad the rest of the movie kinda sucked though. Camillo Mastrocinque was by all accounts, an excellent comedy directory. But I think he’s out of his element with the horror genre. The reverse of how Bava wasn’t good with westerns. The movie seemed more sad than scary. More of a trajedy than a horror picture.
Long Hair of death worked better as a horror film. I’ve always like Margheriti as a director. George Ardisson was surprisingly convincing as the bad guy. The first 2 thirds are excrutiatingly slow and boring, which loses points for me, but the last bit is excellent, with a wicker man type ending.
He was good as a ghost in Django the Bastard, since he’s even better in this one and it’s a horror movie I presume he plays a corpse ?
I hated the ending in Wicker Man…
How could you? How can anyone. It ties together the whole story, What else could have happened?
Anyway, Night Of The Living Dead (1968) for me now.
…partially devoured… ![]()
I watched W Django! for halloween
I’m hoping to maybe get in a viewing of Tombs of the Blind Dead tonight, seems perfect for halloween. Tip o’ the hat ![]()
No gigs for you as Halloween falls on a Saturday?
Nope, I was planning one out but a group of friends were doing another show so I scrapped it… heading out there in a bit, although not playing tonight
