[Germany] Plaion Pictures (Koch Media - Koch Films)

I’m not sure i’m following you here. To my knowledge, Diabolik didn’t have any of the “All Arrabiata” titles, because they were Plaion shop exclusives (Plaion shop being the only outlet where you could order them officially). If found at other outlets, these were often inofficial resales (for example: you could order two from Plaion, and sell the other on ebay or amazon… or sell one to diabolik, etc)

@Admin Diabolik has carried the whole All Arrabiata series. They have about half of them in stock right now including 10 copies of Texas Adios. Since Plaion doesn’t ship to the US Diabolik has been the way to go here. I know Plaion states they are shop exclusives but I have a feeling they send some to Diabolik…unless Diabolik are just purchasing them in bulk and reselling. Some are at good prices right now around $33.99.

We’ll never know how they got them, but … Good!

I have a preview of the disc here, now, and I have updated and confirmed all the specs there.

P.S. The English audio has a constant humming noise in the background (like the AC is running, or like @scherpschutter wrote in his old timey review of the Wild East DVD, as if the ears are tingling, so might be the same audio source, which is a shame) and generally does not sound fantastic, but that’s just quick check.

Two really quick unboxings

Do we know at this point how many numbers this serie will run?
First it was said 10, but then it was said maybe more than 10.
Maybe Plaion don’t know themselves, we will just have to wait and see…and BUY!

they have a track record for starting series and then stopping them, which drives me mad as a collector

Do you know what strategy behind these many series, including those at Koch Media/Plaion Pictures, or can you say what factors have determined whether a series has been ended and a new one started? Is it really just down to sales figures and decision-makers, or are there other reasons too?

You’d have to ask them

I’m afraid that I won’t be given any information about internal company matters, and I was hoping that you, as a Spaghetti Western lobbyist and networker, could give me an answer.

Have to disappoint there  I think this is one of the things they are getting wrong. Other things are too low runs on limited editions, for example. But so far they haven’t made me head odlf product strategy :))

I suspect that their Western All’Arrabbiata Series is basically a self sustaining line. Look at the release schedule and what we have gotten. The first four are very well liked films which came in quick succession, but they still didn’t sell very fast, some still have to sell out. Since then, we have gotten one release per year, two at best, no release last year and they were all lesser known films of noticeably lower quality than the first four. So I speculate that they finance the next edition through their previously sold ones, hence the reason they started with big names to gather some money. At this point it’s unclear if they continue beyond the original ten, although it was teased somewhere at one point that they might even do 15.

Thanks for your contribution. An interesting point of view if you want to own the entire “All’Arrabbiata” series as a collector. For me as a SW fan, however, it’s only partially understandable - since each part stands on its own - but that’s just my opinion. Because distribution through their own shop and the limited editions speak in favor of your argument. In the case of the three Koch Media editions of the “Italowestern Enzyklopädie,” the box set principle certainly made it possible to sell lesser-known and below-average SWs alongside better-known and (above) average SWs. In the case of the Django and Halleluja box sets, the presentation was also very successful and the box sets were difficult to obtain for a long time. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that there will be a few more titles from the “All’Arrabbiata” series that have not yet been released (in Germany).

Agreed, I guess. I mean I’d buy them anyway, even if they weren’t part of a collection. I’m not too big into collector’s series, so it doesn’t matter much to me. But there’s some big gaps to fill for sure. Blindman, Bandidos, Dead Men Ride, Forgotten Pistolero, Mannaja, Matalo, Requiscant, Vengeance…

The only thing they won’t do is 4K in that series. That’s why they’ve released Django as a standalone and will do the same with Keoma. I suspect that Run Man Run will be released as 4k standalone as well, if they have the rights that is.

I suspect they do, and I also suspect that’s what theyll do. I even suspect Artus in France delayed theirs so their releases are more in sync. I just don’t know what the holdup is, they could’ve just taken Eureka’s release and slapped French/German audio on it…
They move at glacial speed, that’s why I decided not to buy any of their Golden Princess titles, because god knows when they’lll release those… I’ll be retired by then

Since I am often asked for delivering material I got the list for titles 1-10 back in 2021. So, the series was finally planned before the start. Numbers 1-7 were exactly released in the row of the first list. Number 8 was in progress when they recognized there were problems with material from Italy. They put original no. 8 on hold. Original no.9 was not considered in the series anymore since in meantime there was a UHD release in another market. But there were plans to extend series to 15 titles and so new numbers 8 (Texas Addio) and 9 (Tampeko) were taken from original 11-15 plan.

100% this. If they had done normal plastic case releases and put them on Amazon.de I would’ve bought most of the line. But I’m stuck not being able to get them because you can’t order from their store from outside of Germany and you are stuck with the weird square box super deluxe packaging that will stick out on my shelves.

Interesting information…that could explain why there was no publication in the “All’Arrabbiata” series last year.

The picture galleries in the extras are really very extensive and commendable. That makes my collector’s heart happy.

Yeah. I’m buying the Arrow GP titles too. They’re looking to be amazing. Plaion is getting slower and slower ever since they started doing distribution for major labels. I know they’re not a small company but the workload must still be considerably higher than it used to be.
