Franco Morselli confusion

I noticed something interesting and can’t wrap my head around it.

Franco Morselli is the guy who sang the theme songs of Sonora and No Room to Die. For Sonora, he sang in English. The man has a strong accent, but his English is good, right?

The next year, Morselli sang the theme song for No Room to Die both in Italian and English. However, this time his English was horrible!

The question is, what the hell happened to Franco Morselli’s English skills between these two films? Did he have to improvise the lyrics to Maya or did something else happen at the studio? Were the lyrics originally bad and Morselli had no choice but to go along with it?

Perhaps he had learned the song phonetically, rather than having temporarily mastered English ? … and second time around, the phonetic translation or transcription wasn’t so good.
