The Red Dead video game franchise is definitely one for me, especially Red Dead Revolver. The plot of the game is similar to Death Rides a Horse and the soundtrack consists of SW themes.
Another video game I like is The Town with no Name. It doesn’t take things seriously and could be called a western parody, but it has Clint Eastwood’s Man with no Name character and Lee van Cleef’s Colonel Mortimer from AFDMhttps://youtu.be/314Nm0h5ysQ?si=2K-UfUKmVAdoJNl4
In My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episodes Pinkie Pride and Twilight’s Kingdom - Part 2 the pony Cheese Sandwich looks like The Man with no Name
The numero uno reference (in regard to other films) is the screening of ‘Django’ in Perry Henzell’s ‘The Harder They Come’. The scene was filmed at the Rialto Theatre, Kingston and shot in cinéma vérité style.
“You shut yuh mouth! You think hero can die til de last reel! Him think hero can die til de last reel…”
Spaghetti westerns were hugely popular in Jamaica. The imagery of its ‘anti-heroes’ influenced many rocksteady/reggae 45s. Legendary producer Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry was a genuine aficionado; while others such as King Stitt may not have seen the movies, but were inspired by the posters and taglines like “Mr. Ugly comes to town!..”
