This is the sentiment that I was trying to get at with my first post. My original “guilty pleasure” is not the right phrase, because it does indict the film in question. I’m not sure what works instead. “Personal pleasure”? Anyway, there are films (and books, stories, songs, comics, OTR radio shows, television episodes, etc.) that I unabashedly love, but understand that they appeal to my highly specific tastes and not to a significantly broader sample of people.
In any case, I am glad to know that my son (for whom the film is an all-time top ten across any genre) and I are not the only Provvidenza 2 fans in the world!
