Everything AI

I understand there’s a certain sentiment against AI, and the use of it. I don’t mean to ‘pollute’ any existing topics with it, so perhaps it’s best to keep the discussion central, so people with an aversion to it have an easier job of skipping it.

So, let’s discuss the good, the bad and the ugly of AI here. Perhaps it can be useful, insightful and/or beneficiary even to this website. I will delete my AI related comments from other topics.

and of course this will be a great place to post creations/abominations

Edit: I deleted every AI related post, except for one, I think. But now the system makes me wait 23 hours to delete more, because I’ve performed this action too many times.

Anyway, this was my latest post in the Matalo topic:

Don’t take it so seriously. I was just testing some prompts. AI is a hobby of mine and I’m really curious where this thing is going to go, in terms of quality and possibilities, in the next years. The progress has been huge, in the last couple of years.

I even made some short movies featuring my cat, that turned out pretty well, but those are not for people like you, of course

Taste is a subjective thing, so I’m not going to argue about that. But I don’t think it’s devoid of feeling. It fits pretty well, in my opinion.

For those that are interested, here’s a film I made. It was a shit load of work, but it was also fun. And -besides AI stuff- it actually taught me a lot about scripts, shot lists, editing etc. You know, the stuff that makes real movies.

AI can be used for different things.

It can be helpful as a search engine, when you’re looking for something but you don’t know what it’s called for example, you get suggestions. It’s still not always correct though.

Things created with AI is of course 100 % artificial/computer generated. Not so interesting for movies. It was bad even before AI, with special effects created with computers instead of more for real.

Some people are afraid that AI will eventually develop consciousness, that we will end up like in the Terminator movies.

There are even older films with the same topic. Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970), and the computer Hal in 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968).
