El Topo (Alejandro Jodorowsky, 1970)

Well, what I was trying to say is that we are killing animals every day for food or just for sports so why is it so condemned to kill animals for piece of art. I think it’s ignorant how people are against any art form where animals are killed but at the same time they’re just allowing all the animal cruelty which is happening every day.

I see your point, but still I don’t think killing animals for real has anything to do with moviemaking.

Yeah I feel the same way.

Just watched it for the first time this weekend. Damn, mindblowing stuff! I’ll definitetly watch it again and again

What release do you have? I am confused as to which one is the best to buy.

Well, technically I don’t have it (if you know what I might be saying), but I think it’s the Raro release. It was pretty good, knowing that some Beatles-associated asshole destroyed the original print. From what I understand it’s the best out there, but I can’t draw any comparisons.

I saw (rented) the SPO Japan release recently some nudity was blurred out in that print.

This may help:

Thanks everyone for the El Topo info. Have a Happy Christmas. I’ll be away from my computer for the holidays.

I’ve been reading up on my El Topo from forum to forum and found this,"According to Marc Morris over on the AB Forums, having talked to Jody Klein (and Jodorowsky!) at Cannes following a screening of a newly remastered El Topo, all three of these are on the way to DVD this year from ABKCO, all remastered from HD sources, the version of El Topo being the Spanish language one, unseen material etc etc.

Nothing on the Abkcoflimshttp://www.abkcofilms.com/ site yet.

I know there’s been plenty of vapourware carp about decent releases of these films for years, but since primarily the problem was licensing from ABKCO (and the ludicrous amounts of money they wanted), since they themselves are (potentially) releasing this time around, it certainly looks favourable."

Also I have heard of Tartan will bring all three films(El Topo,The Holy Mountain, and Fando and Lis)out as well.I guess the best thing to do is just to wait.

I dont know if I should get them separately or in the box set

Anyway…May feels like a long time to wait

Only another month before I get my hands on those sweet pieces of gold

Oh God! Those extra features are making me wet my pants. I already have all Jodo films but I gotta get this boxed set! I wonder what film LA CRAVATE is. Is it possibly The Severed Heads, Jodo’s first film?

You can find it for under 40$… I can’t wait, this is a great deal. I think a lot of the box set is exclusive to it, so I think that’s the way to go.

It’s only 30 $ on deepdiscount.com. How can it be so inexpensive? I paid more for my Raro-Holy Mountain disc alone.

Yeah I know. For 50 bucks you get four movies and two soundtracks(Holy Mountain And El Topo)this has to the greatest deal ever
